i've searched and read up on this and people keep saying stay away from safc or any type of piggybacks cause they are "shitty". i basically have a stock motor with a few mods nothing big. you know your basic install stuff fmic, bov, new clutch, fuel pump, etc., at the moment i just don't want to get a full stand alone or get my ecu reflashed untill i get a few more upgrades. Is it still bad for me to get a safc to fix my running rich problems?? help me guys, give me some advice on what i should do?

From the looks of your upgrades, you "shouldn't" need a piggy back - that'd be putting a band-aid on the actual problem.
What it looks like is that you upgraded the fuel pump, which usually exposes other problems (i.e. typically bad fpr). First thing to check would be your fpr (you can either follow FSM troubleshooting techniques) or install an fpr gauge and see if you are getting the correct ratios.
That is most likely your problem. You could also be having vacuum leaks from your intercooler/bov setup...
Again, using a safc at this point is putting a band-aid on your problems and can have adverse effects - you shouldn't need a safc for the upgrades you listed.
As far as a safc being "shitty" - you should just search on this forum as it's been discussed to death, and you can come to your own conclusions.

+1 for brokeas240sx. Also check your MAFS.
I had the same probem with probably the same mods as you too. I think my problem was that I had the wrong adapter plate on my MAFS that did not direct the airflow correctly so the MAFS was seeing more air then it was acually getting. I changed my adapter plate, replaced my dirty air filter and replaced my spark plugs all at the same time, and my car is running like a champ now.

yea my car is running like crap cause i dont even have a filter yet and my intake pipe is a bit ghetto. waiting on my pipe from pipepro.com
but lets just say i fixed all that and still running hella rich, could i use the safc for a temporary fix untill i find the solution to my problems?

I would agree with everyone, check for boost leaks, also how do you know you are running rich? Do you just smell fuel or do you have a wideband? SAFC isn't bad to _tweak_ an AFR, esp with a rom tune, but you have to have a wideband and a safe place to do it.

Ya before dropping a couple hundred bucks on an SAFC, test out likely candidates. See if your ECU is throwing any codes, check your various sensors lilke CTS, TPS, MAFS, etc. Also try pressure testing your plumbing to see if you have boost leaks. Any of those things are much cheaper than an SAFC and will actually fix the problem rather than try to cover it up. Just my 0.02
