I see a lot of threads about stretching tires and such. But what is the widest tire you can go? I would like to have something beefy on the side. Wheel info would help too.

SlammedS14, are you talking about the car in your signature, or do you have an S13 as well?

I have seen pictures posted on Zilvia.net of 265's on a Hatchback. But his car was not very low. Suspension plays a big part in how large of a tire you can fit. After that it's up to you to massage the body around the tires you want.

Cool.

Unfortunately this Thread is about the widest tire possible on an S13.

Thank you for trying to help though.

at least they have yellow writing. function over fashion i guess.

s13's just don't look good as drag cars IMO.

the red hatch with the sublime sticker on it belongs to firestorm, it is 600+whp. I have seen a kid of it racing a 10sec stang from a dig, and owning it like nothing. He is from KS, I believe. I have had 225s on a 6inch rim.

I plan on running 255/40/17 on the rear on my car stock body with the least amount of camber and pulling as possilbe.

I have had 275/40/17 in the back before. No rubbing of any sort.

FYI- Stop asking such generalized questions

That red hatch sits like that because it's a drag car. better for letting it squat I believe.

I've got 245s all around on my S13... That is as big as will fit on the front but you could go a little bigger on the rear if you wanted... I have had 255s back there but never tried 275s...

You'll probably be limited to 245 up front on an 8 with a higher(20-30ish) offset. In back, since you have more room to play with, on a 9 or 10 with a pretty high offset you could probably do a 275 or 285.

correct, 245 seems to be about the max in the front.

i've seen 265 stock fenders. pull/roll them and you'll be able to fit significantly wider tires. however, you have to be careful when pulling as the car will require some body repairs. the rear areas indent if pulled to hard, which means you'll need to take the car to the body shop, repair, respray, etc..

it's cuz you're kosei's are 2 inches wider, and a way lower offset than the factory wheels.

duh.

roll your fenders :loco:

I need to roll mine very badly. I have 275/40/17 rear rubs like a bitch if dip in road is decent. Just cruising and paying attention for holes and I'm usualy good. I have 245/45/17 front and the inner edge rubbed kyb's pretty bad, rubbed until it didn't anymore. A 40 series would be perfect with 245/17 front. S13's are the shit, you can fit alot of wheel under the fenders stock and with them rolled or widebody options are almost limitless.

i got 245 on 7.5's

My set up is gram lights 17x7.5 in the front and 17x9 in the rear. i can fit 235 in front and 255 in rear. the rear had to get rolled i use the car for DD and track. the front slightly rubs on the track when i hit grooves, but i'm going to lift it up anyways for the upcoming season. BTW, tires are federals 595... imo best tires bang for buck and really sticky, about the same quality as azenis-215 (older version not the new 615).
