i was thinkin of buyin the sportmax 002 16x8 0 offset or the 501 16x8 +15 offset. which is best because i've never seen any of these on an s14 zenki because i hear they're too small. well, so is my wallet. any other options because i only have 500 bucks and guess what, i OWED taxes. sucks butt.:rawk:

you're going to waste your money on upgrading your wheels to 16 inch sportmaxs? geez, dont even bother, you will be getting worse gas mileage unless you change your speedo to compensate for the difference in wheel/tire. On top of that whats even the point of modding your car if its just a DD

hotwheels wheels at least 2. remember you gotta pay for tires too

according to your budget, some sticky tires would probably be a better investment.

I got MB Weapons in 17x9 +27mm and I have 18x9 Weapons in Gunmetal. Hit my sig up.

I wouldnt buy Sportmax's for shit. They are not that baller. For the money, I would either buy 16" sticky tires or save for JDM TyTe y0 rims. Seriously.

Nicest wheels in that price bracket for a 4 lug S14 IMO are the 16x8+10 Rota Grids.
If he can't afford big wheels, he probably couldn't spring for the tires either...

If $500 really is your budget then hit up ^^^ that guy and see about some weapons or just wait. Don't spend money on em' sportmax yo. Especially 16's for a S14. You might as well roll on some D's

if i were you, id save up a little and get some 5-zigen fn10-c's from one of the group buys. you really can't beat that value considering they have almost perfect size and offsets, weigh decent, and cost around only $750 a set. kinda wish i didn't waste $$$ on volks and got them instead. you may also find a good deal on them used.

I also like the enkei rpf-1's. you can get a set around 1k, and they're superlight. the only prob is that their offsets are generally more conservative, and the wheel spoke generally doesn't offer such good clearance for big brake kits.

nothing wrong with rotas per say, they just don't make the best sizes and offsets for 240's. they do make good sizes for hondas and miatas with the 15x7, sometimes even in the +30 +35 offset (vs. the regular +43) iirc. I purchased 3 sets of rotas in the past with no complaints whatsoever.

for the 240 app, also factor in that the 5-zigen fno1-c's arn't that much more $ (with all the good sizes and offsets rotas dont have), and you can see why it makes it somewhat pointless even to look at rotas. don't know about sportmax's.

Rotas are not nearly as bad as Sportmaxes.
At least most Rotas are fairly light and they've been around for a while.
And they don't have glued on plastic wheel bolts on models other than the D2, which is hideous.

rota's crack/break thats what makes them the worse

sportmax's are just heavy

5zigens were once on everyone's car

used name brand wheels are just right in my opinion. if the offset isnt what you want you use wheel spacers or if your lucky and its a multi piece wheel, get a custom barrel made to change the offset.

5 lug is soo cheap lately... for $500 you can get some good stuff like S5 or Circuit Sport hubs!

with the rotas, it really depends on the model. note, that i can only speak for the 15" rotas. i've heard some pretty bad things about the C-8's. the shitstreams have been good to me. my first set up held up surprisingly well despite bieng in an accident flipping my car and ripping up the azenis 215's. they weren't even bent. i have another set right now on an eg that i occasionally track, with no issues at all. i also had another set of the group-n's that i put on my crx, and daily drove in los angeles. they served me well until they were stolen. my impression is that, at least with the 15" sizes, they are for the most part very durable wheels.

the 5-zigens may be more played out, but they're still the best value for 240's imo. when i save up for a set of track wheels next year, they will be my first choice for sure.

i do appreciate (what id consider at least) well manufactured premium wheels. i've owned 2 sets of Te's, a set of ce's, and just ordered some re030's for another pos car. i'm just tired of spending $2k+ on a set of wheels. pricing on new volks arn't getting cheaper either. i'd rather waste my money on other junk for a change.

I still find the statement of " I would rather waste my money on something cheap" to be uber "stupid" to say.

Worst may come to worse and your rolling on some "POS" wheel that was designed to be cheap and lokk kinda like another brand... then BAM wheel shatters while you are out on the streets. You not only endanger yourself but others that are around you as well for your mistake of trying to take the "easy" route

there is a reason why high quality, good looking wheels cost a lot... they work! Just because you cant get that flush look with the wheels you bought doesn't mean your not JdM tYtE yO!

take your time, its not like your life is on loan from god... if it is I will apologies!

Maybe the impression i gave came across wrong, but i guess what i'm trying to say is that I prefer to get something that serves its purpose, without being overly expensive. just because something is cheap, doesn't necessarily mean it has questionable durability. in the case of the slipstreams, they have been used by numerous track guys with very rare cases of failure. its fair to say they are a proven wheel. i'm not a fan of rotas for 240s not b/c of poor durability, but b/c of undesirable sizes and offsets.

With the case of say the fno1-c's, or even the MB motoring wheels. imo, they would be budget wheels. yet they're tracked by quite a bit of the 240 community for quite some time now, with a relatively rare case of failure. to me, that's proof that they are good enough for the track use. volk forged wheels may still be more durable, but is that added durability worth the premium of the extra $1,400 or so? for someone who competes, probably. for a dd w/ occasional lap duty, i'm not so sure.

Mark, I told you 4 lug rims are hard ot come by, especially in good enough offsets for cheap. there is a set of 4 lugs sold in the bay by handogg i believe. That is probably one of the best fitment for 4 lug wheels ive seen in a long time for sale here.

Call me and i might have another purchase for you.

Roats don't break as often as people say they do.
Out of all of the thousands of track cars that run them, all of the hundred of thousands of daily driven Subarus, hondas, VWs, and other random ass cars with them on, there are a few isolated incidents of them breaking where there's not really any background on how they were treated.

Had those wheels been through several crashes? Dropped on concrete a few times? Had deep gouges in the barrel from a tire machine?
I don't like them either, they're fakes, but they're not as shitty as everyone seems to like to think.
They're just cheap wheels that are not as good as name brands who use better casting/forging tenchniques and better QC. They're fine for a daily driver.
