which 89-93 240s came with the 195 tires, and which ones came with the 205 tires? were there diffrent models? also, i have seen some S13s being 4-lug, and some 5-lug.

for example, my friend's 89 240 hatchback is 5-lug, but has 195/60-15 tires.

did all the hatchbacks come 5-lug, and all the coupes 4-lug? or did the SOHC versions come with 195s, and DOHC come with 205s?

sorry for the newbie questions,
any help would be appreciated.

In 89' 205/60r15 was available with SE sport package option on the alloy rims. Base model would usally have the 195/60R15 on steel rim with the hub cap. 89 thru 94 all have 4 lugs, unless you convert them to five lugs. 95 to 98 SE have 5 lugs.

He asked about S13s specifically, not 240SXs in general.

All S13s worldwide came with the same 4 lug pattern. That includes 240SXs, Silvias, 180SXs, 200SXs. If you see a 5 lug S13, it is an aftermarket swap.

The 205/60R15 tire size was part of the SE/XE sport package in '89-'90 and part of the optional handling package in '91-'93. These tires can be fit to any S13, I run that size on my '90 base model.

thanks guys.

but i coulda sworn my friend's 89 240SX (i think SE) is 5-lug. he bought it all stock, with no modifications, and factory looking wheels.

why would someone upgrade to 5-lug hubs, while still keeping very factory looking 15" wheels, stock looking brakes, and the car otherwise bone stock?

I dunno... what did the wheels look like? Stock '89 240SX SE alloys have a flat face with a series of teardrop shaped holes around the outside. They also have a cap that goes over the lugs.

I think the one you saw are hub caps. There are some S13 with 5 lug pattern hubs.
Just take off the wheel and check if it's 4 lugs or 5 lugs.
