This is a good idea by GM. They're letting the public pick they new mini car, They debuted 3 cars and you can go here (http://www.vote4chevrolet.com/) and vote for your favorite.

Here are the three cars:

Is "none of the above" an option? :ugh:

The Beat looks the best, but it's a total rip-off of the Fit. I'm not sure what chemicals GM's design team had sniffed when they thought up the other two, though...

Yes. Don't click on the link.

Not everything has to look like a 240sx secretary car guys.

I think they are all decent designs. All better then the current Xb or Xa. What ever one wins will sell for the same reason the Xb is selling so well; practicality. Not because it's out to win any "best looking car on the block" awards.

I think 240's are ugly fucking cars. But they're cheap and effective. Not everything has to look like a 240sx, and I'm very happy everything doesn't.

That doesn't mean these aren't god awful designs. Look like utitily vans that got smashed in to little compact things, and a bunch of completely unecessary american design elements.

The rear of the "beat" looks decent, but the front of it is GINORMOUS. The headlights look completely out of element, and the lower grill looks like a mouth drooling black death.

The "trax" is like a Hummer had sex with a Jeep and had some midget ugly beat up offspring child. I hate the new Jeeps, and I hate Hummers, thus I hate it when they use both of them together.

The "groove" looks the most reasonable of the 3, everything is at least in proportion. It looks like they just squashed a Chevy HHR or whatever that abomination was called. The HHR FLOPPED and so will this design. It's bland, it's ugly, it looks like a truck not a compact, sporty, people-mover.

To almost no one's surprise, GM is retarded. Their design sense is falling behind even the Korean car companies as of late, and a little compact car isn't exactly their forte. They need to stick to making their trucks and stop trying to play copy cat, because their copies are always just utter SHIT.

Well, none of them will come out that radical in proporton anyway. The Beats rear reminds me of the Renault Migraine (I cant remember the real name, its frickin French!) and that Renault hatch is hot shit. They need to extend it a little bit though! What good is a backseat if you cant even fit people there.

Hmmm, I'd have to disagree with you on GM as of late. They're designs have improved dramatically.

Saturn's whole line practically, 08 CTS, Solstice, to name a few.

They are making steps in the right direction. But that's just my opinion.

I can't believe the Groove is winning. Ugh.
It's the only design of the three that doesn't have looking ahead as one of it's design goals.
It just recycles the form vocabulary used by every bland SUV and minivan in Chevrolets line-up.

But Americans are voting for it. Why is it that the car buying public is so afraid of designs that are fresh and cool, while Japan and Europe usually embrace them? It frustrates me to no end.
It's much better to have a love-it/hate-it reaction to a design, because the people who love it will buy it. Whereas if you build a car that offends no one, but doesn't excite anyone either, no one will buy it but rental fleets.
It's good to see that the Beat and Trax combined have way more than the groove however. The problem is the two exciting designs have to split the votes between each other, while the single bland car gets everyone of the bland people votes.

Nope. Different markets.
Which is why both Mitsubishi and Pontiac had GTO's (and the reason the Mitsubishi GTO was sold in the US as the 3000GT). If the Beat had been sold in the US market, GM would have a problem, but it wasn't.
