Before you read on, just know that I searched around and didnt really find any answers I was looking for...

Was there ever an OEM cupholder for S13s that you could stick in the center console in place of the ashtray? I know there are the ones that can fit in the pocket under the radio, but Im not a fan. And usually if I carry a drink in the car I just pull the ash tray out and stick the cup in the gaping hole. Id kinda like an actual cupholder though. Smaller stuff like Red Bull cans dont really fit well in there and just fly around everywhere... Is there one for that spot anywhere???

I found a few threads from like 2003 where some guy made some sort of carbon fiber cup holder insert things for that part, but couldnt find any pics or any other info.

Any help would be faaantastic.

There is a din pocket pop out cupholder that fits in the center console, and there is also a cup holder that fits into the armrest.

The DIN holder is not OEM.

The one that replaces the armrest is, it's basically a taller armrest that opens to reveal a dual cupholder. Dealer option only, pretty rare, usually goes for $80-100. Problem is when you shift your elbow is right against it. I've got one laying around I was going to sell, but someone local claims he wants it when he gets his tax return back, I'm raping him on it.

I'd beg to differ, sweetheart. It may be for j-land only, but it's OEM and for S13.

It says NISSAN on the back (along with a part number)

Yeah I had one of these in my old 92' SE coupe. I had the tan interior and the cupholder/armrest was insanely high off the tunnel. About 4 inches higher than the regular armrest. And the way it flips over to reveal the cupholders was just wierd. Reminded me of the fliptop head cartoon man in those old Oral-B commercials.

Really just dumb. Just buy the one on eGay and be done with it. It removes when you dont need it and the cup inconveniently out of your way and practically rests on the passengers lap....but who cares about them?

Alright technical ass, there's not a DIN holder OEM in the US for the Schassis. That one pictured is the same one found in the Maxima, I guess they decided US sports car drivers don't need cupholders.

Thanks for the info guys... So nothing that fits in place of the ashtray then eh? I think I might try to improvise something, maybe a CF panel that fits in that hole with a cup-sized hole in it. Or something.

DIN is a standard size, hence the whole point of DIN to begin with.
Any DIN size thing will fit a DIN slot.

In the meantime, if you're complaining about Redbull cans falling over in the ashtray hole, put the ashtray back in, open it, and stick the can in the open ashtray, perfect fit.

yeah, i use the ashtray location, i don't even know where my ashtray is,
and in it's place, i used an eggshell carton thingy about 1 inch thick or so, to surround the edges so it's more circular, but over time it gets squashed/flattened, so now i need to replace it, lasted couple years...

Anyone have pics of those DINs installed?

Wouldn't it stick out too much to where the shifter will get in the way from driving?

There's also those ebay cupholders that somehow attacts to the center console towards the passenger side...

I'm not sure about S13's, but in S14's the angle of the din compartment and the location of the DIN doesn't work well with this option. Trust me I have one in my S14. Fountain cups barely fit and are inclined to lean forward, and even with a short shifter my hand comes very close to hitting it when it's open all the way.

so the JDM one... does it hold a 12oz (or whatever the metric counterpart is) and a redbull or what? Is it just me or are they 2 diff size holes.... i'm not sure what hte small one would work for here is "bigger is better" land.

why not get some random DIN cup holders and if its an open hole in the botton just get some of that thin metal tube shit and make whole in the back of the din and bend/cut to size

so when you pull out you can have any size can in it... well that doesnt exceed the opening size (revert to ashtray)

I will see if I can get a friend to post his oem armrest cupholder... its perfect for him. just rest your arm like usual and with the short throw and a tall enough shift knob... you dont need to move to shift!

Out here they have coffee cans instead of the coffee cups. The biggest drink they have are pretty much the size of a coke can. The 2 sizes are ideal for the 2 most common size drinks out here.

That makes perfect sense.
Have you any idea what diameter the smaller one is?

Yeah, that cup holder definitely looks like it would be in the way of shifting. But I'd get it for those long highway trips to the mountains in the AM :)
