A. I'd be DAMN surprised if this wasnt discussed MANY times before.

B. Mobil-1 10/30 + K&N Oil Filter = win.

I use Royal Purple, I've been using it forever, its never failed on me. I even used it back when I had my old KA...

yet I hear from Various people that it ruins your engine and its bad and whatnot, but I have yet to see any graphs or real results or whatnot... so iono...

organic all the way on container motors.

sae 30 break in and then mobil 1 -10w-30 on fresh bearing or built bottom end.

thats how i roll, works fucking spectacular.

Its just oil not liquor, I wouldnt spend the money on royal purple.

mobil 1 is worth it imo.

dont go thicker than 10w40 ever.

10w30 is good, 5w30 is perfect.

OEM nissan motor oil in a can is the best imho.

I used to use Amisoil 20w50 synthetic and it worked fine on my SR.

Then I switched to Royal Purple 20w50 synthetic and works well but doesn't seem to last as long as Amisoil and engine feel kinda tired after events.

So now I'm going to switched to NEO 20w50 synthetic and see how that works out. But I'm probably going to flush the engine first though.

if you get 5 quarts of Mobile 1 from Walmart its 18.50. Get a Purolator filter from AutoZone or whatever because Fram sucks and grand total is under 23 if you get the premium Purolator. Frams are terrible. Why is it a big deal again to say fuck Fram?..

I stick with the regular Mobil 1 Synthetic 15w-50 in summer, 10w-30 in winter with a Bosch filter. Royal Purple uses molecules that are basically graphite. Even though the material causes less friction in between parts but leave behind residue on parts its shouldnt. I was told its perfect for hard working valvetrains like in Diesels. If Porsche, Mercedes, Astin Martin, Lambo, Dodge Viper and the Z06 all come from the factory with Mobil 1, i think i can trust it. OEM engineers are some of the toughest to please. They want the best in their highest end cars.

5.5 Quarts of Mobil 10-30.
OEM Nissan Filter.

Oh yeah, to whoever mentioned power neo, fuck that shit. it breaks down fast as hell.

If I were gonna try anything other than Amsoil and Mobil it would be Silkolene. but I don't really care since the mobil doesn't really break down that bad for a 10-30.

German Mobil1 5-W30 with Mobil 1 Filter.

what was it that you did not like about the Royal Purple? Whatever it was, it was psychological.

the difference between brand to brand are down to a microscopic level where its impossible to tell any type of difference (assuming the oil weight is kept the same).

uhhhhhh. its pretty easy to tell which oil breaks down faster if you have an oil pressure guage.

MOTUL 20w 50
hands down.. best oil ever...go read about it... crazy good stuff

but i use mobil 1 20w 50 if u cars turbo and ur not using synthetic ur outa ur mind.

the W stands for winter, oil visocity at 0 degrees..
and the other number is the viscosity at operating temp.

Royal Purple 10w-30 and Amsoil filter..car feels much better with Royal Purple in it..just overall runs smoother, I love it!

i use GReddy oil GR2 and i'm happi wid it, it keep the temp. in a good level. I used to run mobil and royal but i switch to GR2 n thyre good you should try it out

04-04-2007, 04:56 PM
I run 10W-40 300V Motul on my 300ZX TT, love it! Keep in mind not all synthetic oils are 100%, many of them are highly refined dino oil and considered group IV basestocks. Motul, Redline and Amsoil are one of the few that are true group V Poly-o-ester basestocks.

whats different about german moble 1?..
the american made / refined Mobil 1 dosent pass the test for BMW Mercedes etc etc. so its not as good as the German Mobil 1. all U have to do is look at the back of the bottle if it says "Made in the USA" it's crap.

04-04-2007, 11:11 PM
Alot of the BMW guys like the German Castrol as well, i guess they (German spec) have higher standards.

Aoshi112
04-05-2007, 12:28 AM
Its harder to find German Castrol as I heard the major parts store Kragen or Autozone (one of those) said they're going to stop carrying German Castrol since barely anyone buys it.

Im sure its probably mainly due to cost.

Havent tried anythin like motul, neo, or fuzion.

But on small block applications I've actually seen hp gains on the dyno with royal purple. Granted don't care how fast it breaks down. But just my 2 cents.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned TORCO oils. I'm running the SR-1, 20w50 right now. Might try the SR-5 oil, although it's hella expensive. Anyone else running TORCO?

Interestingly enough, i have yet to see a fair comparison of Motul oils in all of the oils tests i have read over the years. Is it really that hard to find Motul? All oil tests always included AMSOIL, Mobil1, Castrol, Redline, Havoline, Pennzoil, Neo, Royal Purple, etc, etc, but never includes Motul in the mix, i wonder why?:rant2: I would like to see how Motul stacks up against the others in a legit test. :hs:

Torco is pretty good but its harder to find around here then Motul. Only place around here i found Torco was Autobacs in Stanton, and it was like $8 a liter

I run Mobil1 15w50 in my SR20DET autocross car. Ran last season with OEM filters, I installed a remote mount kit this season and decided to try out the K&N filter after reading some good things about them.

Car seems to like the Mobil1. I'm a little leery of the Royal Purple additives, but I haven't ruled it out for future use. The Honda guys I know swear by the stuff. These are racers, not ricers, so I tend to listen to their ideas...
