So i've got some megan coilovers, and they are sweet. So i decide what better way to top it off than with some megan ruca's. Y'know camber adjustment, woo. So i get them in the mail and one is good, but the other is not even frikken welded up all the way :wtf: (see pic). Now keep in mind, this is from megan racing, a respected? company that has to upkeep safety and quality standards. It's bullshit right?
but it gets better. long story short i send them back, wait frikken forever to get a new "good" set. And when i get them, again, one is good, but more bullshit from the other. The links are threaded wrong so to adjust them you must unbolt the arm, and the threads are significantly shorter that the other good arm.
I'm not going to put these things on my car, i've already contacted megan AGAIN. It's frustrating and stupid. If you have these, or are getting them be cautious because appearently they have no control over quality.

i guess the saying " you get what you pay for" is true after all!
megan racing, a respected? company
who ever told you that? megan racing has probably THE worst quality in parts. I'm scared to put my g/f's camber arms on her civic that she got from them with asking me if it was a good part.

Damn. I have a friend who has the RUCA's, he likes them and hasn't had issue, should tell him to check the welds, lol.
Glad I didn't cheap out and get the set, decided to just get SPL front tension rods, and have the alignment shop do the best they could in the rear

It'd probably be easiest to just have them welded. A muffler shop would probably do it for $20. Looks like they would be good quality, with good welds.
Id still complain like a mofo. Send them that picture.

seriously,
because people somehow are convinced Megans are anything more than horse shit.
Here's proof to their true "quality"

Welds are overrated.
Duct tape and some twine would fix that right up.
No but really, Cusco or Kazama are my recommendations.
SPL one is good, but technically the S13 one is NAMS/Nagisa and their S14 one they sell Cusco.

That is not even funny...
I don't understand how those guys can put out a product like that knowing that people might get hurt...
I guess they need to get sued and somebody needs to crash before they pay attention to quality instead of their profits...
with the precaution of 'for race use only'

The only megan part that seems to be worth anything is there exhaust manifold. Possiably there exhausts hard to mess that up to much. If you are buying it from a store see if they will let you pick the best looking whatever out of what they have. It is hit or miss, mostly miss, with megan.

Seems like Megan is the same company as when I took off for a bit.... but this is new to me...
Since when are the Megan manifolds not poor quality like the rest of their lines? Are we talking SR then? Cuz damn, I need one.... could someone bring me up 2 speed on the Megan Manifolds?
Wait, strike that...
PM me I guess, I don' t mean to thread jack.

think i can weld these too? mr tie rod ends for s chassis.
put these in on saturday, broke on wednesday. this is the side that their heim joint threads into. i threaded the heim in as far as it could, that tightened down the lock nut.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a113/chugger2k/meganracingdie004.jpg
the hole is now oval, and the threads ripped out. thank god i felt a wobble in the steering (i think thats from when the metal started stretching) and as i was making a right turn in a parking lot after slowing down, the end ripped completly out of the sleeve.
not to mention the heims themselves have a lot of play in them. this is after less then a week, and less the 500 miles.

Uhh. Assuming when he said it was, "MR" and last I checked that meant Megan Racing. Then yes. It is megan also.
I'm glad this thread is here. So when people ask for opinions on MR parts. I can show this thread.
But then there are those ever persistent ones who need the actual person who has had one break on them...
Bah. I detest stupid people.
I'm so glad Kuah sells quality parts. Viva la SPL!

not surprising since alot of small companys that aim for bigtime, usually have thier parts produced by the lowest bidder..
You cant sue em imo lol.. they already gave u the warning "for offroad use only" lol
Tcsportline stuff is prolly a lil better, or even ebay stuff lol.
brewster240
04-05-2007, 11:12 AM
being for offroad use only doesnt entitle them to make a crappy, dangerous product. if anything, it should be stronger if its intended for racing as their brand name suggests. my parts failed in under 5 days. thats a faulty product no matter where i was using it.

They are cheap, looking for overall volume profit, not the benefit of the consumer. There is a reason people are saying to pay for SPL/ Battleversion/ Peak. Quality AND customer service.
Don't expect Megan to give 2 shits about you and their product failing.

I've got the toe rods as well, I don't have a whole lot of choice on those since one of my old ones is bent.
I wasn't going to whine about my experience with Megan till I saw this, but what the hey more fuel to the fire:
I specifically ordered 95-98 toe rods, when I recieved them a) they did not have the dust boot that was pictured and 2) there was a 10 mm difference between the width of the joint and the mounting width in the car. Looking at the packing list showed the part number was for an S-13. So I called them and arranged for them to pick up the S13 arms and send me S14 arms. Two weeks later, box arrived containing S14 Rucas (the welds on those looked ok, but I really didn't look too close). Call em again to pick up the Rucas and again send me S14 TOE CONTROL ARMS. Once I finally recieve the arms I again notice that there is a 10mm difference between the width of the megans and the oems. Again I call them, apparently there are supposed to be spacer washers included with the arms. "Oh, we have been out of stock of those washers lately so we stopped including them with our shipments".
WTF, I just could not believe the idoicraty of this organisation. You are out of stock of a critical component that will make your part fit a specific application so you just don't include that part. Fook em I got some washers from the hardware store, I told the tech that I will never recommend them or buy anything else from them.

^ the thing is, this thread is important. its an example of WHY you pay for quality....
My friends know me for spending money to get better grade stuff. "baller", "expensive shit". whatever.
I HATE to pay for the same thing twice when once should be enough for a long time...
think of it as.....
You got to pay to play.... then everything will make sence.

420sx you hit it right on the money. Sure $600 coil-overs sound like a good deal untill they break. Then do you spend the $1500 you should have or get a decent set for $1000? Why risk damaging your car and spending more money?
Just save twice, buy once. You will be thankfull in the long run. In this case you would have been thankfull five days latter. Never bought Battle version but from what I hear their customer service is second to none.

ive had good experience with mr exhausts and such over the last couple years. i figured by now their suspension parts might be at least decent. guess i was wrong. it was worth a shot i guess.
i usually by good stuff for my suspension, i just had these in my daily drive cause it needed rod ends anyway.

I worked at a shop that was sponsored by Megan, so when I first started puttin my car together, I had literally every part they made for the 240/sr20, except the coilovers... now I'm working on replacing it all - seriously. The exhaust manifolds are aiight, the exhaust parts are average (had one elbow split at the weld, laying my nice exhaust on the freeway @ 80mph, but they replaced it all), the intercooler's OK (little big), and the strut bars are, well, what you'd expect. Above all, buyer beware of da cheap shit.
