Zilvia Car of the Year Award and More

I just thought about this while looking at Gavster's thread for the 100th time. I think it is best to positively reinforce great actions in society, in this case, the aftermarket automobile industry. Some people on here have great projects done by themselves or others, do very well at track events, and are great examples of the direction that every automobile enthusiast should take. Awards can also be given to advertisers and private sellers for wonderful prices and excellent customer services; more praise for great actions.

This is an idea for now that can hopefully take shape. Advertisers promote their business by offering prizes for winners; parts, gift certificates, apparel, etc. The nominaters should have a minimum post count, be premium members, or be given nominating rights by a governing board.

Voting can be done by polling in a specific thread without any replies though to keep it fair to everyone. The power would be in the users of the forum.

I think this is an excellent idea. The above listed people/entity's deserve to be voted upon and receive the recognition that they deserve here on Zilvia. Its members like those who make up the core of Zilvia and epitomize it the best.

Sounds like a good idea but a year may be too long. Perhaps a ROTM (ride of the month) section could be created and cleared at the beginning of each month. People can post their own cars to be voted on and each month someone wins parts or apparel or sumthin of that nature. Seen it on other forums and its a big hit plus it gives people something to strive for. I think the whole year is a little long. Lots of people on here drift so someone having a sick car in June may drive a car with no bumpers, missing HL, and an exhaust held on by a coat hanger by July. I just think the whole year is too long for the best ride thing. As for the vendors on here, I think a vendor of the year award is an awesome Idea.

Seems more like a popularity contest to me then anything else. It's an interesting idea, but I don't see it going well. We can't even allow people to comment in picture threads because the drama it causes, what is going to happen when we start declaring "cars of the year"?

I dont see this as a Bad thing because as a Forum its pointing out members (could be anyone). That give recognition to the Memebrs of Zilvia... the main reason people do things (other than fun) is for Recognition! It does promote a better atmosphere, although there will always be newbees and ass-hats alike.

Monthy is to fast and applies stress on the Mods or whomever would be tracking the results. Every other Month is better and Quarterly is a little long but possable. Yearly is way to long but you can Vote at the end of the Year to Nominate the past winners for an Overall Best.

The first one go at this is going to basically point out alot of Good and Bad things, but as the voting goes on it will get better because those being voted on are already choosen (by you) for very valid reasons.

say this is done monthly or every 2 months, you can only enter it once per year, this way it gives a chance for everyone to get in on it. and every winner of each month/2 months goes in at the end of the year for the car of the year award. you could limit it to only 4-5 cars per month/2 months

People recognize their build by responding. They have opinions, give props and learn a thing or two. I dont think Zilvia needs a ROTM to recognize these people. But if the majority want it, then its the majority. I personally dont care either way. It would only be nice to have because someone would pull all the nice pictures of the car into (1) thread or showcase. Other than that, if you frequent the board at all, you know who has the badass cars on here. Just my opinion.

I don't think anyone cares, I just like to vent my frustration over supra owners whenever possible. :mepoke:

Who cares about how fast a car is, as long as it does well at what it was built for? I'm willing to bet very few cars on Zilvia were built for time attack, and basing who has the sweetest car on lap times is defeating the purpose of this thread.

There are a lot of nice S-chassis on this site.
Some are built for track, some drift, some hardpark at shows, some carry their owners to and from schoolor work.

A time attack would be fun to organize and do, but a with a zilvia time attack, you'll have maybe two or three people actually prepared for it, with quite a few people not even interested in being involved.
As I said, it would be really cool, and it's a great idea, but using it to base something like Zilvia car of the year off of would be ignoring so many factors and interests that makes this site what it is.
