You are a braver man than I. If I had that much rust on a chassis, I'd just scrap it. Canadian winters FTL!

you rock, this much effort into a chassis that could be bought for $1000, thats pure passion. cant wait to see updates

we dont have cars without rust in Canada

Not true... but MOST cars here do. lol

My 240 is almost rust free... I have a couple little spots starting up that are easily fixable, and my frame is pretty clean. Only 1 or 2 small spots on it as well. Cars in the eastern part of the country, and west in BC, tend to have more rust then cars in the landlocked provinces I find. I looked at a 240 hatch from BC once... had more rust then yours did. :ugh:

EDIT: I DID have some decent rust starting around my bat tray... but I cut that all out when I relocated my battery.

biggest waste of time.... ever.

its a 240sx. for the price of your sand for sandblasting and wire for welding, you could have bought a non shit coupe in the first place.

rofl @ "there are no non rusty 240's in Canada so Ill just get a rusty one"

yeah damn, wouldnt it be alot easier to try and find a 240 without rust..But nice work. You are a brave man.

you guys are idiots. he is restoring it.

03-30-2007, 06:49 PM
I am actually not in disagreement with his approach here.
The fact that he has the rust to fix and my assumption that he had only a shell to begin with to think that he will be stiffening this thing to levels beyond comprehension by welding the whole chassis while he has it apart and exposed like that, possibly a nice custom cage and all that goodness as well...

... if he is NOT, then he is wasting his time.

rofl @ "there are no non rusty 240's in Canada so Ill just get a rusty one"

some people don't even know what they're talking about
first your dont sandblast with sand
second do your actually weld because It cost me no more than 100$ in both wire sandblast gun and glass beads for the entire car
and 50$ for the rest of the front clip
third the non rusted coupe in Quebec are around 5000
in the US with the inspection its nowhere under 3500 and thats without knowing the state of the car if I take some time to go there and find one for sale and check it out it'll cost me at least 300$ for food lodging etc etc
I did not want a stupid RHD car because its too easy to buy a car pay people to install crap you don't know shit about and brag that you have a fast car this ain't the fast and the furious this is not for amateurs you looked at the thread about the Rb26 Bmw this is the same kind of project so why this guy is like a god and I'm just a stupid fuck.... I suggest you think about that thanks a lot for the other constructive comments

and by the way in canada the laws are not the same as in the US you can't have a rollcage unless it does not interfere with the accessibility of the passenger (in exemple paramedic trying to get your ass out of the car that you just flipped over) and the car has to clear the government inspection if not it cannot be driven on the road so no welded cage it has to be bolted and the inspection itself has 90 pages with illustration as the things you have to comply to make the vehicle streetable

but what do I know I'm just a stupid frenchy....
you guys almost make me take off the thread:bs: :stupid:

Hey swiin2 i went to look at one that was 5500 $ and had a big hole in the floor ...

Here in Canada, especially in Quebec it is almost impossible to find a 15 year old car without rust, the only chance would be that the car has never been driven in the snow but almost no one did that here, I've looked at a few and they're all pretty much as rusty as this... I wish I was born elsewhere where they dont throw salt all winter long to kill your car ...

amplifi3d
03-30-2007, 07:20 PM
throw that shit away. seriously. that is not worth saving at all. i scrolled thru the entire thread and all i saw was a continuous flow of rust in my eyes. you might as well make a s13 chassis.

KidSaru
03-30-2007, 07:52 PM
Who gives a fuck? His money.

Edit: As for Canada (Esp. East...Quebec/ect) it's damn near impossible to find rust free anything. Even the rust rusts.

i personally think you and everyone else on this forum are thunder cunts for thinking this project will actually turn out successful, i mean look at that hunk of junk, only place its going is straight to hell along with the rest of you...

this project is useless .. give up and get a new car, come to the states and get something decent with no rust..

straight up idiots..

and what do you have to show? honestly youve got four posts and two of wich seem to be complete shit. at least snc240sx has the juevo's to take on a build like this, Imean look at foose, or boyd coddington what wouldyou say to them for restoring a 1920's ford or chevy?

on a lighter note "Ilovejdm240's"(sorry to mods in advance)but go fuck yourself.

snc240sx: good luck with the build, not everyone would take on sompthing like this but i look foreward to tuning in to see how it goes. GOOD LUCK!

03-31-2007, 05:43 AM
well why do all this work if you can get a rustfree shell for under 2k including cost of gas going to pick it up? truck and a traler. driving for day or 2. bam. rust free shell. bam less work. but to each his own. its good to see that he is willing to put that much work into it however

its not lavender frost its audi blue and as for the rest of the neg comments, you really don't know nothing about nothing have you ever imported a car ? no so instead about babling about shit you have an opinion about and no experience thank you, you just convinced me to take off the thread

Don't worry about it swiin2. At least one of the haters has been banned. You can't expect to post something on the internet and have everyone instantly love it. Plenty of people hate my car, it doesn't bother me. Continue on with your project because it is what you want to do. Feel free to continue to update this thread with the progress, or wait until it is finished and add it to our Picture Thread. While I admitted the rust is more than I would be willing to tackle, I'm not about to call you stupid for this project. Good luck and have fun.

FOR EVERYONE ELSE: Please refrain from name calling when stating your opinion. You are entitled to state your opinion about the car, but there is no need to personally attack its builder.

I found his build very cool and looked forward to it's completion. The man should be applauded for bringing an old lavender frost coupe back to life

I know pics are removed, but I know what this guy is talking about. It's near impossible to find a car with no rust here and much less effort in most cases to fix the rust than to import a car from the sates. And to all you people who commented on his project, let him do whatever he wants, it IS his car.

Anyway, cos i'm a frenchy, and in a neighbouring province:

Bonne chance avec le projet pis fait toi en pas pour les criss d'idiots sur le forum qui savent pas de quoi ils parlent!

You can get it from a few vendors. I got it from a place in dallas who is a distributor. You can get it from summitracing i believe. The US Navy just bought 2 million worth of this stuff to restore a WWII battleship. I figure if its good enough for a ship its good enough for a car that might see rain.
