Without a doubt, the biggest aggravation with my 240SX has been breaking axles.

I have in all seriousness replaced the left side at least five times, and have broken on the line at the drag strip twice. This is quite embarrassing to say the least.

I noticed that Duy (1000whp 2JZ S14) and Mark (Mazworx T88 S14) have both ran the Mazworx axles, and they have held up to multiple 8 sec passes without breakage.

"The Mazworx 32 spline outer joint and upgraded inner joint will give years of lasting service. The Kit includes driver and passenger axles, new hubs with ARP Extended Wheel Studs already pressed in, and the Mazworx Inner Joint adapter to make all the parts a bolt on affair."

Considering my car is a street car, and I'm shooting for the high 9's, I figure this setup should hold all I can throw at it.

They are $1799 plus shipping, but worth their weight in gold. 1 Year Limited Warranty.

Here's an image of the pieces included in their kit:

DriveShaftShop does offer their own version ($1599/ rated for 900 HP), but it isn't nearly as complete, and only replaces the axles themselves....which is only half the problem in that car.

If anyone wants to post up other manufacturers, I'd love to get a list going.

To my knowledge, these are the only two making upgraded setups for the 240SX.

What do you guys do about transmissions? I guess your dont put as much abuse on the tranny as drifters but I know a lot people that have good traction are breaking axels and transmissions.

Thanks, I assumed sr or ka-t but for those kinda power numbers that makes sence. Does anyone make a bellhousing adapter or anything to mate a stronger trans to the sr other than going with an upgraded gearset?

Mazworx makes an adapter kit to use a Z32 300ZX transmission with an SR or KA...

This guy is running a RB26 with a RB25 tranny(IIRC) which is close to the Z32 tranny in strength...

I've been told you'll want to go with the upgraded gearset because the Z32/RB stuffs are even more vauge/sloppy penis feeling than stock S13 trans.

but whatever.

The stock RB25 trans is weak, IMO. It's good for about 550 HP max, and it's only time til we blow this thing up.

My current debate is whether to go Auto with the ATI Racing TH400 Adapter Kit for the RB26, or whether to do built 5 spd by PPG out of Australia.

For drag cars, it's hard to beat an auto/trans brake. Repeatable times with a minimum of wear. Sure does kill the fun on the street though ~

Yeah I just picked up another stock trans today and after I blow this one up. Last one lasted about 3 mo. I will be looking more closely at the os giken gear sets. I am curious to see what all broke on the one in the car now. I know 2nd gear is done I pulled gear teeth out when I drained the fluid.

Maybe cheaper...you can do the Q45 (R200) diff and 300ZX / Q45 axles...bigger and beefier.

What you need, courtesy of "SMRacing" and "Brad" on KA-T.org:

..........................

'90-94 Q45 (or Z32 turbo) rear hubs (5-lug)

2 new axles: One from a turbo Z32, one from a Q45

PASS. side of your S13/S14 uses a DRIVERS side Q45 axle

DRIVERS side of your S13/S14 uses a DRIVERS side Z32 TT axle

Input/pinion flange is LARGER - Need a different driveshaft or flange.
