I have a '93 SE w/the hideous(sp?) stock wing. I really want to get rid of it. I've posted a couple of wtb's on some local forums but to no avail. I'm sure some of you have had to take it off and "seal" the holes. I don't plan on getting paint for at least another yr. so I'm not gonna do any body work to it (i.e. bondo, weld the holes shut, etc.) until that time. Do you have any suggestions on sealing up the screw holes to prevent rust/leaking. I know the screws will have to stay, and I'm willing to live w/that look, but I'm looking for some suggestions on how to seal them up.

Coupe or hatch?
Either way, you can find plugs at some body shop supply stores or hardware stores. Then there's always duct tape, reapplied monthly.

sorry, it's a coupe. I don't mind plugs, but I'm not too sure about the duct tape. I assume that rubber plugs could just replace the screws?

that's ghetto, just rock the stock wings until you're ready to bondo/paint...

Leaving stock wing on is rustville. Take the wing off, apply ducktape to the bottom and put some rtv in the hole and place ducktape on top.

you can buy plugs at your local hardware store. Any rubber plug that fits will do. Doesn't have to be for automotive use.
You should be able to find some that you may have to cut down to make fit.
You can use duct tape on the botoom, and fill the holes with epoxy. Then just pop out the epoxy when it comes time to re-paint.
Or you could just find a base model trunk lid. screw the color.

IIRC, there's ten holes in the decklid when you remove the spoiler and all it's mounting hardware. About half can be plugged with plastic/rubber plugs, the larger ones you'll need to tape. Metal flashing tape is good too and more durable.

I just put RTV in my holes. Hardly noticeable and has lasted 2 years. Mine was on OEM lookalike wing though so maybe the holes were smaller.

on the coupe? i think there's less than that. i was gonna remove my spoiler and just cover the whole trunk with red sparkle vinyl.

Three in the middle, then there's two large clips on each side, so that's seven, and I think there's a smaller hole in between each clip. I've got a lid I can look at tomorrow.

when my boy took his off he ended up cutting some of the trunk frame out to get to the bolts. Is there a way around all that?

just take it off and get some of thoes body panel christmas tree things and silicone them in, it worked for 9 months for me....but dont waste your time just get a hole-less trunk

they are actually harder to come by than you might think. Every one that I'm finding has a damn spoiler, lol. Is there a way to not have to cut the trunk frame, there should be. I would go outside and look but it's pouring right now

i wish I was where you are, lol. All the junkyard's here are empty, and I'm a manager at advance auto parts and all of our salvage suppliers only have lid's with spoilers. Sucks.

15 holes to be exact! Some are large and finding plugs might be a chore. Oh well, we'll see.As far as taking it off....2 screws on the wing and 2 nuts under the trunk(close to the lock). I cant upload pics right now b/c I can't find the cable for my camera. I'll post pics when I'm done.
Edit..
With wing....

If he cut anything he's a moron. Why would there be a need to cut something when it's an added on piece? You don't cut your fenders to remove the bumper do you?

Well I was thinking the same thing, lol. It seemed kinda rediculous.

i love my stock wing, but mine doesnt have the 3rd brakelight, so it looks alot cleaner imo.

Then it's not stock. The OE wing is fitted with a brakelight, period. Pics of yours for comparison?

i went to a shop that specializes in stickering cars for car shows and banners. I just got some vinyl stickers from them and used that. Its tougher and more durable that electric tape and doesn't look as trashy as duct tape. You can get them in many colors too.

That's a good idea. I might try that.
