just some quick questions on swappin a s13 engine to a 1993 240sx. 1. how much horsepower should i expect. 2. if not the most possible what engine would be. 3. does it make a difference coupe or fastback, either works, same engine bay. and 4 ive heard both sides, r light conversions easy do it yourselfers. and if i sound like i dont know what im talkin about its because i dont really know much about swappin engines. so bare with and input greatly appreciated.

Answers:

1. 205hp if you go for the s13 SR20det
2. Explain this question a lil better
3. Does not make a difference either way
4. Well for the swap, if you have the confidence and know how it won't be too hard at all. If not have a professional install it for you.

Here is a good link for you to check out:

Edit: Next time check the search for most of your questions. It is a valuble tool.

Just to clear something up, "s13 engine" can be:

CA18DE
CA18DET
SR20DE
SR20DET
KA24E
KA24DE

Make things more clear Most would assume you mean SR20DET, it's the most popular swap, and one of the easiest. You get 205 HP at the crank with this factory setup. Another thing to consider is working on the higher displacement 2.4 liter you have in there now. . . Most of the fastest 240s here in the states still use the KA engine.

Coupe vs fastback means nothing when you talk about the eingines. Only difference is the coupe has the skinny ass

For the "light conversions," you speak of swapping the popups with a Silvia front end, right? In that case you need the lights, bumper, hood, and prolly front fenders to do it (unless you are good at the body work).

you have the option of going with the following (SRs only listed)

*s13 sr20det red top or black top 180SX 91-93 and Silvia 91-93/180SX 94-98 respectively. fits us s13 chassis no problem

*s14 sr20det black top silvia 95-98 fits US 240sx s13 chassisno problem

*s15 sr20det (really difficult to get right now and really expensive) requires modification to the s13 driveshaft/95-98 S14 US 240SX requires mods to the tranny mounts

of course there are the other engines that were listed in the previous post, but the s13 and s14 sr20det engines were really designed for our cars if you think about it. boosting at about 13-15psi, the safe amount on the stock internals, you should be hitting about 250rwhp. thats also assuming th car is tuned properly. The s15 is safe to about 15-18psi and should produce about 300rwhp if tuned right on stock internals and turbo.

all this information and more can be found at www.heavythrottle.com or www.srswap.com. theyre the same page. hope this helps.
