ok so my car still hasnt turned over for the first time... its a wiring nightmare and i want to just ditch all the factory wiring and go with the bare minimum to get it started... what do i need to make the motor run??? im going to do away with the ignition and everything most likely it will have a switch for the ignition and push button for the starter... all the lights, horn, etc. will be on a 21circuit wiring kit from off ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Universal-kit-car-wiring-harness-21-circuit_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ42606QQitemZ330 103742494QQrdZ1
anyone ever done this before??? the only thing i still need to wire for my motor is the ignitor but i've already pulled the rest of the wiring so all of thats out of the way, no dash in it or anything...

painless kit does that
www.summitracing.com
but if u cant wire the stock stuff
i wouldnt take the time doing a painless
do it right the first time.

i would be able to do it i think, however the stock wiring was all mangled... a bunch of wires cut, wires pulled straight out of plugs, and corroded plugs...
i was also thinking of a painless kit and might still do that just because the wiring on the ebay kit might not be up to par

its not
my friend has a ebay kit
the wires are of cheaper quality is mything
id get the real painless one
u can wire it all into your stock ingition, turn signals etc its not hard to do.

so your suggesting this one???
http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=PRF%2D10102&N=700+400012+115&autoview=sku
so what wires do i have to run to get the motor running??? the wiring itself isnt a problem to me, i just need to know what wires need power/etc...

oh hells no!
thast just fuses
no relays
get at least a 6 or 8 relay kit w/ fuses

just out of curiosity does everything else work in the car? If soo why not just go standalone like Megasquirt, Haltech, etc etc with some of those standalone you have to make a new harness so you get rid of all the bullshit.

How the fuck do you figure you will need 6-8 relays with the BARE minimum?

And if you have any clue what you are doing, make your own relay/fuses boxes, dont go and spend $450 on a painless kit and switch board that consists of about $43 worth of materials.

looks like you have to buy the relay bank seperately... that'll bring it to over $500 maybe i'll try to find a different kit

i should only need 3, the fuel pump, ecu, and starter... im not worried about the lights as much as anything else. worst case scenario i can make the wiring for them from the oem wiring.

yes
my painless is my ENTIRE car's electrical system.
not just the engine
engine doesn need 6-8
i still use power windows, turnsignals, wipers, headlights, etc etc etc and such.

i basically would want a painless kit for just the engines electrical... i can rewire everything else from the oem wiring since it isnt that big of a deal for me... im just not sure about the rest of the wiring... i have everything under the hood taken care of im pretty sure...

nope, sure didnt... nothing in the car works electrically... i've traced it back to the fusebox under the dash having a bunch of wires ripped out of it... the relays on the drivers side were clicking but the passenger side where the fuel pump and ecu relay are didnt get any power. im not planning on going crazy with power right now or on this motor alone which is why i want to do it this way. if i do shoot for big power i'm going with an ls1

You don't need a relay for the starter unless you're using a low current ignition switch.

painless
everything under the dash. one fuse box/relay for the car. :)

the two things from under console are my main battery to painless and the rear harness to taillamps/fuel pump.

i have to put everything back together still.
