what are you asking? what mods do you have first? why do you think you need a spacer?

Ian
03-28-2007, 01:28 PM
you'll need spacers

also, at least 500 horse power to turn those boulders

seriously, they're so heavy i think your car will actually put out lower numbers on a dyno

the wheels will not clear your front suspension. i have them on my coupe. very cheap alternative 17x9 for track wheels n i love em. gets the job done. but i've spaced the wheels 25mm all the way around. you could maybe get away with a 15mm up front and none in the rear but it will look funny.

stock wheels weigh like 15lbs a wheel without tires, sportmax weigh like 24lbs a wheel without tires, i spin them fine on my stock sr at stock boost. my buddy spins them fine on his stock dohc ka. its not as bad as people make it seem.

Please list why you think you need a spacer.

Please list what sizing you are looking at getting.

Please don't fail.

a 9" on the front of an s13 with coilovers requires a spacer-the do hit. other than that EVERYONE has theese wheels you should be able to find what you are looking for because you are not the first. ohter wise theese are excellent wheels for the price. as cheap as they are you should be able to afford to make them fit. good luck.

Is it true that they stopped making the 18x9.6 962's in silver?
I hope not, the silver ones are the only cool ones.

well i wanted to do 17x7 up fron and 17x9 in the rear... i got some sprint springs and am picking up some kyb gr2 struts later this week.. thats the only thing i have as far as suspension.. and the reason i ask is just cuz its a wider rim i didnt know if u would need spacers before... ive never bought any rims before..lol... and i know that they are bigger than stock... but they arent that heavy... especially if u compare them to the motegi togue.. those are HUGE

Sportmax wheels have been the topic of maybe like 322044000 threads... maybe you could search, and find some answers for yourself.. anywho to answer your question, yes they will fit.. But sizing is up to you, from what i have seen 18x9.5 rear and 18x8.5 fronts look pretty nice.. They come with an offset of +35 so its up to you.. I have heard the front may need to use a 6-7mm spacer to clear, but that depends on coilover/strut/tire combo you have.. I like 18s but many people think 18s are too big for s13 so you may want to go with 17s.. IMO the wheels you want are played out, I have seen sooo many 240s with the SM 962s.. they are very affordable, so the choice is yours... If it were me I would go with the 502s

DP_Michelle G
03-28-2007, 01:36 PM
dont spend money on rims yet work on your suspension first that will be the best mod you'll ever make.

17x7 lol atleast get a 8 or 9 in the front with atleast a 20mm offset or lower

Silvia_S13
03-28-2007, 01:37 PM
do not run 17x7 up front wih 17x9 in the rear. the lip is different and will be so ugly =x

and for a refference, 120 a wheel is kind of expensive no? email the guys on ebay they have them forl ike 105 a wheel. and i can grab these locally for 400 a set no tax.

krazyfil
03-28-2007, 01:37 PM
well 18's are nice... but they are bigger and bigger means heavier... and i looked at the 502 they are clean.. just not my style... i prefer to just go with the 17's thanks though

03-28-2007, 01:38 PM

wowwa, search honestly i think 90% of 240sx's have those wheels on them, or have had them, 17x9 +35 all around with a 10mm spacer would work best...but they are heavy, cheaply made, and for the same price you can find used rays

I was serious, I'm probably getting those for the front with spacers, and then some nice 18x10-11's for the rear. Does PE Motoring have a website?

hehehe... its nice to see old pictures of my old wheels up again :keke:

yeah youre going to need 25mm spacers to make them sit flush or at least a 10-15mm spacer to clear front coilovers and/or z32 calipers... the rear fits fine w/o spacers just not so flush... unless you run these on the rear:
either 245/40/17 or a 255/40/17... 255/35/18 or 265/35/18....

i would recommend running either a 225/40/17 or a 235/40/17 fronts because w/ a shorter aspect ratio, you get a harder sidewall = better corner grip....

thank you DP_Michelle... :naughty:

P.S.

They may weigh 36 lbs w/ tires.... but i spin them fine on a stock KA....

If I end up getting a pair, they'll have 215/35/18's going on them, I just crave having wheels to stretch tires on, I don't care what they are.

great beginner rims or budget rims. they look good and they have a pretty good size. i had mine spaced 15mm in fron and 25 in the rear. they looked fine.

as far as the weight. they are heavy but nothing bad, we would do 3rd gear banked ovals all day with them, sr at 12psi.

where do you get your information at? i think someone needs to do a lil more research.

sportmax has such hate from this site LOL. you guys are all ballers or something. 5lug conversion + new wheels that fit is not always cheap. these sportmax wheels are not a bad alternative for people who wanna drift on bigger wheels but still have money left over to pay the event entry fee + tires. i have 8 of the 962's and it seems like the only people complaining about them is people who dont even own them

they are NOT as bad as you guys keep makin them out to be. there cheap, the size is decent, not super ugly, and gets the job done. who cares what company makes them...

the lip comment was directed at chmercer's quote from the website. what i said was straight up making fun of SHIT offset HEAVY AS FUCK wheels. why not spend extra 200-300 and get enkeis or fnrc.

4 lug is fucking gay. end of story

do you do ANY kind of racing ?? do you know what unsprung weight means?? light wheels are the best thing you can do for yourself along with good coilovers and a diff. you just adding rotating mass by using heavy ass wheels.

so what if they are cheap? why settle for a 5 dollar skank if the 10 dollar one is hot as fuck.

for the price of sportmax you can buy lighter wheels. hell, even american racing, some of their wheels are lighter. MB racing is decently light. whats the point of getting heavy cheap wheels? if you just hard park your car go right ahead.

but then maybe im in the wrong forum. or talking to the wrong person about why wheel weight, size and offset is so important

i well agree that the 962's are alittle heavy but they look good for the price i got my 962's at discount tires in south gate all fuur 17x9/18x9.5 stagger rims with federals 595's tires with mounted and balanced for 750 cash really good deal i think but thats me you'll also made 15mm spacer in the front and 20mm+ spacer in the rear i run a 25mm cause i have a full wide body kit.but the like the saying goes you get what you pay for. also if you fell that there heavy go faster that always helps besides drifting is supposed to be challenging if not everyone would be doing it.
