i recently dropped a built ka with a greddy turbo kit in my car and when i rev it and let the rpms drop to about 1500 itll pop extremely loud. when i push in the clutch after boosting a little bit it will die. i have an open atmosphere bov but its never been a problem before. i dont have exhaust leaks and in not throwing and codes. my timing is where it needs to be as well. any suggestions?

Its your bov....... There is a huge write up on this if you search. Also may want to check ALL vacuum lines.

I got the exact same problem. Built KA w/ Greddy kit too. I've heard that if you place the MAF on the TB intake pipe, you get rid of this problem.

The backfire is due to the engine running super rich...
The stalling is due to the bov venting to atmosphere. Try re-circulatind it back it and see what happens. Both of these symptoms are due to the same problem.

alright. i just dont understand why the bov is just now making it do this because ive had it on there for about 2 years now. it could very well be a vacuum line because its a new engine.

Ya make sure you have all lines plugged in correctly. BTW, what bov are you using?

its your bov. seriously. when u push in the clutch after revving, the rpm's will fall to 0 and stall out. you have to tap the gas right before it falls to keep it alive. i drove like that for 2 years. or just recirc. i think hks makes a recirc kit but your bov wont be as loud.
your other motor u had probably had a small vacuum leak in it and that kept the motor from dieing. maybe this motor has NO vacuum leaks and thats why your car is dying like it should with an open atmosphere bov.

lol i wish it was that easy. i would if i could. i still need to get a 300zx tt maf before i start boosting hard again. i was getting around 300 on the stock maf and 370cc injectors. im surpised my engine even lasted 2 years. but yeah i thought of plugging the bov vacuum line last night to see if it would run right. however im 200 miles away from my car so ill have to try it tomorrow. i hope its just my bov and not a vacuum leak :/

ok...ive disconnected the bov and it still does it. ive put the timing in every position possible. ive check some of the vacuum lines. my plugs are 2 degrees colder than stock. theyre gapped properly. i dont have any egr leaks or exhaust leak. im using the stock fpr with a walbro. any ideas why its still dying when i come to a stop? it sounds like unused fuel. the idle is slightly rough but barely enough to notice. when i downshift its not smooth, like something to do with not using all the fuel. maybe i need to change my cap and rotor? ive tried everything i could think of and everything the chiltons manual says. but obviously the chiltons manual doesnt have turbo stuff in it.
