K I wouldnt say massive problems but stuff where im confused alot...

To start this off I bought an FPR Bumper and its all nice and white(ish) ready for paint im sure but the mounting is a problem for me.

I didnt expect it to be easy but the bumper has no holes for any of the OEM bolts and I could drill holes to mount but Im thinking it would crack the fiberglass so im stuck there.
Not only that I cant even mount it cause the bumper support is in the way and even if I cut that off the bumper seems to hit the hood popping latch.

So Im just wondering if there is a post on these forums of anyone ever mounting any aftermarket bumper so I could have some general Idea of what im doing cause im gana screw something up I know it. Thx guys

Btw spare me the "Be rich like us and just spend $3,000 on a full ultra quality body kit and you wouldnt be having these problems) haha

Ok it's very hard to fit cheap body kits, plus the reason there is no holes is because u have to get bumper lined up then drill too fit bolt holes, trust me it's hard but can be done, as for the bumper support i guess u could always remove it if u wanted to provide the room, I hope this will help u on your quest to install a bumper lol.

why would you be afraid to drill holes in fiberglass? There is a reason there's no holes. So that you can drill them to line up perfectly with your fenders.

Not a genius here but if I just drill and mount with like 4-6 screws or whatever isn't the bumper gana be like moving from the wind while I drive the car? Is there something I could do to stop it from vibrating and shaking?

Sorry for the dumb questions but I absolutely dont want it to be another one of those damn civic bumpers that look like they drilled 1 hole in the middle and the whole thing looks like its coming off and the ends are like sagging...man I will disgrace the S13 name lol

Dude, my bumper is on by Zipties. Its easy to remove. couple on the side and 1-2 up to and your done. Tight and thick zips = money.

So you're mounting the bumper w/o having it painted first? If you're planing on painting it yourself then this would be fine, but if you're having a body shop paint it, why not let them install it? Wouldn't the security of knowing it's on right be worth the extra $$ you spend.

let the man mount it himself, this will teach him the tricks and fine points of body work and alignment, by time he test fits it for the 5th time he may or may not give up n bring it to a shop.

on a side note, what you can do is just drill a small pilot hole and line everything up, use a drill and start slow, gradually speed up, you will not crack your FRP bumper. take your time and you will be satisfied that you did it yourself, if you crack it, fuck it. drill from a diff spot.... haha

lol I like the way you think pbc and I think your right that even if I do a crappy job (which I better not) ill be more satisfied and either do better next time or feel good that I did it myself.

So im guessing the more places you stick it to something like the frame or bumper support the better?

I've got no problem with him doing it himself, I just don't want to see another 240 driving around with a non-painted bumper thats about to fall off. :D.

To answer your question squirrel, the more places the better, but 2-3 on top and 2 of each side should be fine.

As far as the bumper support being in the way, I ran into the same problem when I did my S13 frontend conversion. We drilled two holes approximately 1.5 to 2 inches behind the stock holes on the bumper support then mounted it. With the new holes, we could slide the support back and mount the bumper no problem.
