Looks nice besides the wing.

The headlights are slightly different then the prototype pics. They have the L shape to them like the Infinity's.

yeah that this is deffinatly a shop, they have not toured that car without its oversized bra and panties.

Definitely photoshopped.

Some other blog said the prices would be $35k for the base model, but thats ridiculously off. Maybe 35 euros or something, but i can't see any version of the skyline coming in below $50K USD.

Three trim levels seems stupid for a limited production car. Make one version with a conventional 6 speed, one version with the DSG box, and give everything the best possible engine, chassis, suspension, blah blah.

There's already like 6 trim levels of 350z for the broke people who can't afford the GTR.

irax
03-27-2007, 01:51 PM
a base model GTR would just be a infiniti G35 or G37

TheSquidd
03-27-2007, 01:59 PM
Perhaps the three trim models aren't as different as you think.

One 6spd
One SMG or whatever
One Fancy tarted up one, the EVO, aero, bigger wheels, bigger brakes. Probably SMG. Perhaps even one of these is a track only model such as the M3 GTR.

On FA, there's an article saying there could be as much as a 15k difference in various trim levels, which doesn't make much sense. There was also the implication that the lowest model might not even be turbo? Also far-fetched.

If the tranny were the only difference...well..why not just make the DSG tranny an option, and any aero/wheels/fancy brakes an option

not that far fetched since skylines even came in 4cyl models well... i think the last time they did that was the r32? but yeah there are non turbo skylines obviously non-gtr. It sounds like they are treating the GTR as a regular ole skyline. and a 15k difference between the base model and the topof the line is not that unheard of.

The g35 is already the "skyline." As has been known for quite some time, the GT-R is no longer a trim level of the Skyline, it is being made its own car, to be used as the "halo car" for the brand.

There's no point to a 35K "base" GT-R when there's already a 350Z and an upgraded track version rumored to be on the way. If it's luxury based, there's already the redesigned G35 coupe.

I hope that's real.

irax

i agree with the fact that there is not going to be a 35k GT-R since that is basically a g35/37 or a 350z. I think if there is a base trim model it THINK it would be around the 45k spot, I'm just saying it sounds like to me that they are using their business model of the previous skylines IE R34 and older for their GT-R model.

SimpleS14
03-27-2007, 08:38 PM
I highly doubt such a design as that photoshopped pic will be released. However, I can see an aftermarket company making something like that. I'm interested in the base level trim GT-R....then again...I'm interested in the car as a whole.

If they had a $45 base model, it will sell very well.

OptionZero
03-28-2007, 11:49 AM
Didn't Nissan say they were only producing a couple thousand GT-R's? It can't sell that well if they don't have that many to sell! =P

Thats what bugs me about this. They make a big deal about how special the GT-R is gonna be, then pump out some weakshit versions? There should be one GTR, maybe some options on aero, tranny, blah blah. If u want a 45k car, pump up the G35C and make an m3 fighter out of it.

TheSquidd
03-28-2007, 12:02 PM
Perhaps there will be a limited run of the top of the line version, and the 15k cheaper one will be widely available.

There's no reason for them to make the low end model rare, because that would be two reasons NOT to own it and just go for the top of the line. Weak AND limited production? That'd be like Porsche making the Boxter a limited production. Why buy it?

swift_style
03-28-2007, 12:43 PM
looks too much like a g35. If it is shopped, why did they create the new gtr to look like a g35?

OptionZero
03-28-2007, 01:04 PM
Again, it has to do with Nissan's "separation" of the GT-R badge. That move was supposed to add even more "panache" and create an aura of exclusivity and pride to its new halo car.

Shitty models, especially if they go so far as to make non-turbo versions...thats dumb.

But hey, I thought the GT-R should have been an infiniti, so it's not like Nissan hasn't fucked up before.

here's how it should be:

GT-R: 75k, 450HP blah blah vq37hrdett wutever letters, big brakes, big wheels, all the aero, wutever attessa shit, this is nissan's 911 turbo

G35C: 30-35k, 320 wutever it makes already, 2+2 seating, rwd, drop the awd shit waste of money, 3-series/IS fighter
G35C variant: 45-50k, detuned GTR engine, 400hp , no attessa still RWD, keep the luxo barge features , fights m3/s4/lexus F
350Z: 30-35k, 330 hp n/a, rwd, appeals to general sports car market, japanese msucle car
350Z variant: 45-50k, same 400hp detuned gtr engine, shave massive weight, this is nissan's 911 Carrera

and i wouldn't buy any of them because i want an AM v8 vantage and a lotus exige first =P

NEWS:

GT-R lifts a wheel at Nürburgring
After six long years since the Nissan GTR Concept was first unveiled in October 2001, the wait is now only months away, with the public and market debut at the Tokyo Motor show this October. Production is set to commence immediately after its debut with first Japanese deliveries occurring simultaneously throughout the winter. Sales in the U.S. and Canada are set to start in the Spring of 2008.

The GTR is expected to be available in three different model levels. Despite our previous reports of a 4.5 liter V8 engine delivering 450hp, it is now commonly known that it will be a 480hp twin-turbo V6 engine in the standard base GTR as well as the middle level GTR V-Spec. They will be priced at roughly $57,000 and $67,000 respectively. The range topping EVO version with the same VQHRTT engine as the standard and V-Spec models gets a power increase up to 530hp while losing 220 lbs. from the body for an unbelievably inexpensive price of $94,000.

Seen here are the latest wheel-lifting photos of the GTR testing at Germany's Nürburgring

$57k for the base, looks like theyre gonna give Corvettes a run for their money in the affordable sports car segment.

+1 On this.

Interesting thought.. I love the New Z06's but this car looks like it could be a direct rival for the Vette for the best bang for bug pure sports car in america.. According to the specs both have the right concepts behind them. Decent to light(er) weight then others in their class, great looks, great power, and a low low price tag for what you get (a potential exotic killer with little to no mods)..

I know nissan's main rival is the Porsche Turbo (at least it was in the past[R33's and 34's]) but now it might just be the Z06..

2008 NEEDS TO HURRY UP AND COME ALREADY !!!!!!:aw: :hs:

The old Skyline just looks so much sexier. (Seems like the older body was longer). You would think they would try and come up with something that beats the older version as far as cosmetic appeal goes. Looks very much like a Z with a bodykit of some sort.
