i have to slip the clutch a lot if i want to have even a semi-decent launch. otherwise it will "diesel" (like it should be in a lower gear) until about 3000 - 3500 rpm. it's pretty bad. i wonder if this is a common S13 thing or something's fouled up in there. I've got an injen intake and bosal muffler with new cap rotor plugs and ngk wires. it perks up afterwards, it's just an off-the-line problem.

It's normal to bog if you launch at a too low RPM. best I've found is to slip the clutch. With some practice you'll start launching at 5 grand.
Keep in mind this is with a performance clutch. I have no idea if it would work on stock clutch since I've never tried. I suspect nothing would be too different though. Might not grab as well or somethin.
Good luck!

ok, but at 5 grand i will be making a lot of smoke rather than movement. letting the clutch out above 3000 rpms (w/o slipping it) causes excessive wheelspin in my ride. Also, I don't like slipping the clutch because it's bad for the clutch.
when i'm idling and i blip the accelerator pedal, it will take a second before the rpms go up. it doesn't quite stumble, but it shakes the car a bit and maybe hesitates. i know this is directly related to coming off the line.
