Major Clutch Problem

hey guys.  i posted the entire embarrasing story of what happened to me on the chat forum, so ill just write about the problem itself for this forum.  my clutch pedal is completely loose, meaning that when i push it to the ground, it doesnt come back up on its own.  i literally have to pick it back up with my foot.  and my car is undrivable because i cant shift into gears(unless i grind em) since i cant press the clutch down properly.  now, i dont if this is an accurate test or not but a couple of buddies of mine had me leave my car in 1st, while we tried to push it.  it didnt roll, so they said that my clutch was grabbing, meaning that my clutch isn't burnt out.  which i figured since this is a brand new clutch(i just got the auto-2-manual swap done about a month ago).  its also weird cuz normally im told you can feel your clutch going days/weeks in advance before it actually gives out.  but this happened all of a sudden(in a matter of seconds).  the only thing i noticed was that my clutch pedal would squeak whenever i pushed it down, & this started a few days ago, but i assumed i just needed some wd-40 on the pedal.  so anyway, now my car is completely undrivable for the first time since ive had it(over a year ago).   i dont that much about manual trannys & clutches, so if anyone can help me out on what they think the problem is, that would be great.  im bringing it to my mechanic(the same one who did the swap for me) tomorrow, but i just wanted to see what you guys had to say first.  oh, and people tell me that this could be a problem too: my clutch cable is sitting really low to the ground beneath my car.  some tell me that it should be bolted to the chassis or else it could become loose & thats what might be causing my problem.  please if anyone has any ideas just let me know!!!!  thanks!!!

uhh 240s are hydrolic clutch's from what it sounds like your pedal not returning #1 guess would be a leak in your master or slave cylinder or the lines themselves. shoot could even be the dampner (this is in between the lines of the master and slave bolted on the chassis to the right of the slave)

and i doubt putting it in first gear is a sign of your clutch grabbing. ive never heard of something like that its just in gear thats why you cant push it. i could be wrong though but ive never heard of that nor do i see that an indication.

see if you have fluid in your m/c

sorry i always call it a clutch cable! &nbsp;im referring to the cylinder pressure hose that is beneath the car. &nbsp;and yes, i checked & i have fluid. &nbsp;any other ideas?

so all your lines are ok and you have fluid? try to bleed your system first, could be air in your lines.

one thought could be the fork itself not dpressing the clutch. but i would go with bleeding the system. remeber to bleed from the slave and dampner. and dont forget you have to pick up your pedal and push it back down its not vacuumed like a brake system so dont worry about that. call a freind over and start pumping and bleeding see if that helps any

Same thing happened to me. I was 40miles away from home so I called AAA and got it towed to the closest repair shop. They told me the clutch wire/cable snapped. They chaged me some thing around $300 to get it repaired.
