I have a blacktop SR. and latley the car has been having white smoke. but there is no oil in coolant or vis versa.. and oil is not milky.. and compression reads 150 across.. no power loss.. but when i drive for a while the temp will go up and i pull over.. and the coolant is coming out of the coolant overflow.. but its cold and still green color.. then after the car is cooled down i open the radiator and there no coolant at the top.. i fill it up and the car drives fine.. overall the car drives greatand pulls hard.. but theres white smoke only at idle.. the white smoke disipates but can be seen clearly in cold weather.. and the coolant after a while of driving will not stay in the radiator and flow out of the overflow tank..
bad headgasket?? bad radiator?? white smoke cuased by bad seals on turbo??
What can cuase the white smokeing

thermostat opens.. and no leaks what so ever.. except when it flows out of the overflow tank

is it an aftermarket rad? try bleeding it again. my kat was doing that, but it ended up being the fucking radiator cap. i had to get a 1.3 kg cap and all was good.
my turbo smokes white at idle because my turbo is blown.
does the smoke smell sweet like oil or like pee like coolant?

im sorry but maybe its head gasket. was the car fine? how did this started. open the radiator cap very very slowly when the car has warmed up if nothing happens it may not be the gasket. if if starts shooting out it maybe the head gasket

drive it and then take off the oil fill cap and look in it and if there is "milky" shit inside the cap, youre bummed. blown hg. another one of my motors did this too but it didnt idle at all so it didnt suggest it, because you said yours does.

if u search u would see that somebody had this problem about a month ago. it IS the thermostat. i had a similar problem. put a nismo thermo in and no more overflowing overflow tank and rad is full

the car is fine.. it started smoking after i upgraded to 550cc injectors and chipped ecu.. if you open the radiator cap when your car is warm and running shouldnt stuff shoot out anyways??

You probably have air in your cooling system somewhere causing overheating and boiling some coolant out. Bleed your cooling system the proper way, turn on the heater open the bleed screw and fill the radiator until you leak coolant from the bleed screw hole. Seal everything back up, drive it around then check the fluid level again.
This air in your cooling system may be because your radiator cap is not holding proper pressure. If your cap is not newish, think about upgrading to a .9 or 1.3 bar pressure cap and bleeding properly. If your cap is bad, bleeding the system will not fix the problem, it'll come right back. BTW be sure to keep your overflow tank at least half full of water+coolant.
The white smoke that smells like fuel may be from a leaky injector or injector O-Ring. You may have damaged one during install, or it may have came that way if they were used. O-Rings and "Insulators" are cheap if you wanna replace them all yourself.. Or, for about $15/ea you can have the injectors ultrasonically cleaned, flow tested and rebuilt by a Zilvia advertiser (http://www.deatschwerks.com/catalog/injector_services.php).
Yes if you open the rad cap when the engine is hot, coolant system bled and filled properly, you will have a scalding hot geyser... From a cold start, as the engine warms up the water/coolant will expand and slowly overflow from the radiator fill neck if you leave the cap off...

classic symptoms of a bad rad cap.
rad cap maintains pressure and controls the increased boiling point of the coolant.
bad rad cap means coolant boils at lower temp means bakoom out the overflow tank.
A failed pressure seal (on the radiator cap) will allow the coolant to boil at a lower temperature, and coolant will be able to travel freely to the expansion reservoir. This will cause localized hot-spots inside the engine, which can lead to premature head warpage, and may hasten head gasket failure. It will also cause the rad coolant level to be low, just like a failed head gasket.

oh i have a greddy 1.3 bar radiator cap... but ill bleed the system PROPERLY and check the results.. and change the o-rings on the injectors. thanks for your help guys..

maybe one of the coolant or heater lines are leaking?

I suggest doing what mello88 said above, I also suggest pressure testing your cooling system for leaks, because part of what you describe is eerily similar to my head gasket, I had no oil in the coolant or vice versa, and I stopped driving before it "blew," so it didn't cost me an engine. I suggest ABSOLUTELY making sure it isn't the head gasket before it winds up costing you heavily.

nothings leaking...i think its my cooling set up... the car drives totally fine... i have my intercooler blocking the radiator.. so iono if that affects anything.. so iono.. but i also think my turbo is burning coolant..
