I have a 93 hatch that came with that fugly ass brown&tan shit. I painted it black with vinyl paint and it blows. There is spot where my foot will hit my door panel and that shit is brown now. I put 4/5 layers on and it still sucks. Would it be cheaper to buy new interior, door panels, trim, dash, center console, everything. Or lay/glue some type of material on it like pleather. Oh and where the hell can I get the rear hatch material at. Like the hard cardboard shit that wraps around wall of hatch. And I dont know where to get the panel peices that go on the inside of the hatch door its self. Please help that brown shit has got to go.:rl:

go to the junkyard and start peicing together a black interior! Thats probably the easiest way.

I've got a ton of black interior parts, come down next month for the garage sale and stock up.

*The date hasn't been chosen yet, but I'll keep everyone posted*

Otherwise, hit the salvage yards and piece it out.

I'm not trying to rain on your parade. I want you to be happy with your car. But everytime I look at a black car, I see pollen, and dirt, and scratches, and swirl marks. When I look at a black interior, pollen and dust, or the worst, Amor-All slowly destroying everything in sight.

But good luck with your car. Make it everything you want it to be. I'm just playing Devil's Advocate.

use SEM interior paint, u have to clean it with wax and grease remover before u paint it... and u have to also prep it.. i painted and upholstered my friends blue interior supra.. and it came out perfect, its the best shit out there ...to mehttp://www.eastwoodco.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=14623&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=389&iSubCat=1440&iProductID=14623

i just dont like it. ill take your word on the SEM but how many $10 cans plus shipping cost to do all trim, dash, console, back seat panels, and doors?? I can get a basically whole interior set for 150 but i just thought i could save money and get it blacker by spraying it. keep the advice rolling cuz it IS good shit. thanks

Strike one and two.

One, you can buy SEM paint at any quality autobody supply store. Ordering online for a marked up price and paying shipping on top of it - lame.

Two, while you can get most of the associated trim for $150, a dash won't be included in that price from anyone who knows these cars and the demand for parts.

Why not 2 tone the interior, Tan upper, the pillars and black lower kick panels. It would still look good and be alot cheaper than replacing everything. Just an idea, but I hink it would compliment an all black car by breaking up the interior a bit. Good luck with whatever your choice is.

Another vote for SEM++

Be advised that the SEM color samples do not accurately represent the colour in the can. I ordered online with a colour chart as my refernce and was dissapointed when that sh*t arrive.

Other than that, SEM rules all when prepped properly. My center console I dare say, looks better than when I purchased it new from the dealer.

I can get dash too for that. this guy is into 240's but he doesnt care and is a friend. iv already painted everything but the dash. it looks good but fingerprints last and scratches relatively easy. how do/if i remove paint from what i paintedand can it still be prepped and painted right with sem. Oh and i still dont know where i can get hatch wall liner(hard carboard shit) at. or if a junkyard would have it in decent condition.

Holds fingerprints? Sounds like you applied a lil too much. Is the paint fully dry? What brand exactly?

How to remove paint? If it's worth the head-ache...

Frugal and impatient me would remove as much paint as I could with a scotch pad and an agressive cleaner (comet, bar keepers...)

its like the oils from my hands show up and i cant wipe it off. i used that 6$ a can vinyl and fabric paint from advanced auto. it was def dry. stayed out in sun with wind for a good litl bit.

I never fudeged-up large pieces and vinyl. Might be better off getting new pieces (although I believe the rear seat panels can be saved).

+1 shinhead I'll have to try that on my center console.*note* I did not paint it any crazy color but it had some serious tape glue on it I could not get off w/ acetone or goo gone,so after sanding it I tried krylon wrinkle paint to try and match the dash texture and boy did that stuff suck ass.

Krylon wrinkle paint? Although Krylon is one of my favorite spray paint brands, I'm only familiar with Rustoleum wrinkle. I'll look for it when I paint my seat brackets.

Here's a pic from a few years ago on my S14...

(The white spot you may see is from the camera lens)

This was SEM satin black which is a little too dark for the S13's center console so, you'll have to search SEM's bumper line of paints for an OEM match (pics tomorrow).

And you wonder why you have problems. $6 for a can of paint for vinyl/plastic work is like buying a McDonald's hamburger and expecting a 16oz ribeye.

go to home depot, have them mix up some drift black, buy a small sponge brush

works great, more responsive turn in and i noticed that my ebrake was working a little better, cause i like to drift with a stock sohc ka. i highly reccomend it. :bigok:

Amusing and helpful is one thing, just plain ignorant is altogether different. Guess which one your post falls under?

1388- if the panels are already painted there's not much you can do except sand/strip it all off. At that point you're going to etch the grain in the plastic and make it look even worse when repainted correctly.

Some how I put dash in just a little off. Just off enough that it threw off center console and small vents behind steering wheel. The center console is twisted and the ashtray is a bitch to open. the vent behind steering wheel are also a bitch to slide open and close.
