Ok, so recently my temp gauge inside my car has been freaking out and acting very erratic and strange. It'll jump up and down over a matter of seconds. It'll usually just hang around the C and dance around a lil bit, just bouncing slightly. If you look at the video, just watch the last like 30 seconds of it to see that. Other than that, it just acts strange and doesnt show the actual reading at all. It'll read normal temperature at idle, but when i give it gas, the temp guage fluctuates.
This was on a 120mile trip that i took the video, i had been driving the car for approximately already 45 minutes on the highway at the time the video doing roughly 70-80mph consistently.
Sorry for the obnoxious, shitty sound. Apparently my point and shoot camera doesnt like doing video inside a car thats doing 80mph.

My car did the same thing, turned out to be a bad gauge. I could flick the cluster and it would settle back down. From what I understand, the temp gauge sucks in 240's. Possibly check the wiring or the sensor since it does it when you rev.
It's worth getting an aftermarket gauge. They will be more accurate than the stock gauge.
check the wire going to the sending unit, or grounds... Best thing would be to just invest in an after market gauge. Stock gauge is mickey mouse anyways, and not worth much...

Yea a aftermarket gauge is your best bet, the stock gauge acts like its on crack at times.

If you invested enough money to buy an SR,
I would atleast spend some money on watching it and protecting it......... :drama:

My car did the exact same thing for a long time.
You're problem is your gauge temperature sending unit. I'm not sure if its the same on an SR, but on the KA, the sender is on the intake right next to the coolant temperature sensor.
The plug on mine was some kinda spade connector and it was pretty much broken, but not completely off.
If your problem is the same as mine was, the needle drops when u give it gas because the engine torques and tweaks the sender just enough that it loses connectivity.

My stock gauge acted up too. The gauge on the cluster went bad so i just went aftermarket. Besides the stock gauge only has 3 settings.....cold, warm, and engine fucked. Autometer gauges are fairly cheap if your on a budget.

mine did that all the time and i fixed it. It was just a loose temp sensor. I just fixed it recently mines on an sr and was just the loose metal piece. Just check it out tighten it down maybe clean out the sensor by pouring backing soda and water to clean it out some and brush off the metal piece with some cotton wool or something abrasive to clean it of any residue or oxidation on the metal piece.
