View Full Version : Any zenki headlight alternatives coming out?

By now it's common knowledge that there's not much to say about zenki headlights, s14 ofcourse. Just wondering if there's anything new coming out I might should know about.
I doubt it, but was just wondering. Not talking about something with halo lights either, but more like the german glass final K, without the hefty price tag or having to take apart and put back together.
Thanks

So basically you want german glass headlights or final konnexion headlights but you can't afford either?

So something without the price of replacing your headlights, and without the effort of opening them up...
Somethings gotta give.

If you wanna go with a cheaper price then you are gonna have to crack those babys open. If you dont want to crack them open then you are gonna have to pay the money. Like the last poster said something has to give. My Zenki has BMW X5 Projector HID's mounted in the stock housings. Thats cheaper than replacing them with a more costly unit, but your gonna have to put some time in.
This is what they look like.

1. Polish the heck out of your oem headlights.
2. Watch the original Fast and the Furious, find 3 homies with black civic coupes, deck them out w/nawwwwssss (you need the large bottles, 2 of them, and you need them by tonight) and green neon lights underneath and jack the Nissan supply truck when it leaves the docks.
3. Get the German glass headlights or Final Konexion headlight covers. You gotta pay to play!

Yeah, I'll be doing custom 2//4 Zenki headlamps starting in june 07, projector option and clear cover conversions, also offered in complete units. .. .
Let me know
s13pignose
03-22-2007, 07:26 PM
Are they gonna be h4, if so I'll stay posted around june!
Like I know you gotta pay to play. I mean stuff comes out for civics on ebay everyother day. Projectors, halos (:() euro this and that. And it's all ways cheaper than $500. To me 95-96 s14 headlights are similar in shape to 92-95 civics, so some of these lighting companies can't say it would be t0o complicated of a design to make some for us lol. But I know how the honda market is compared to the 240 market, so I'm not gonna even complain.
I just dropped 3 on the kouki led tails from aspec, so I c0uld see myself doing the same for some headlights if the quality is nice, but not $500. But that's just me. I know it's just a couple hundred more, but ohwell.
Usdmsilvia saw your post about you getting the german glass. They are clean, can't argue that. BTW if that was green zenki in the same thread, thats one of the cleanest zenki's I've seen

you can be cheap and put in some R32 headlights. and then do a HID conversion. doesn't fit the greatest, but it's alright from a distance. i guess. maybe.
CKAMC
03-22-2007, 08:35 PM
if you think dropping 3 on tails is fair then call up justin over at performance... germans are about the same price and are LHD beam pattern.
infact kouki germans are in the high 400's to low 500's for the head lamps (random plug)

you can take the lens off and sand the flutes off if you are too poor for fk lenses
but from the looks of your post you dont even have a screwdriver to take the headlight off the car

You want quality parts with no labor at no cost? You have to be realistic.
JDM Headlights
FK Covers
Audi ECE Projectors
Philips 4300k Bulbs
Nissan OEM HID Ballasts
Some paint, sanding, JB, etc.
$1000 easy.

How thick are the FK covers?
Are they like stock thickness or thinner, like they are blow molded or vaccum molded sheet plastic?
edit- not to be a dick dude, but you spent all that cash on Zenki HLs, then put eyebrows over them?

FK covers are aftermarket pieces, not OEM fitment, I had to make them fit with silicone. I did not care how they are molded, they are made in a factory?!?!?
I had CF eyebrows to begin with, and?

I happen to think they look like taint, but I guess it's just an opinion.
"Hey Gerald, I sure wish my headlights were a little less round and more aggressive looking like Kouki HLs"
"I know, let's just stick a little piece of plastic on them so they look less rounded"
"Fuck yea!"
To each his own though.

Haha, I see what you mean.
I was thinking more along the lines of whether or not they are similar in thickness to OEM lenses, or if they are a lot thinner.
With heat and a vaccum bag, you could conceivably make a small run of clear covers.
They would be much thinner than OEM though, but fairly impact resistant.

if your talking about carlos's car at least its different, i think it looks good, its different but good. its hard to make zenkis lenses look good anyway, i spent countless hours sanding mine and that never changes the fact that ther're plastic, i need to invest in some germans

Just get the glass units from Justin at performance nissan:
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/2/web/314000-314999/314750_156_full.jpg
Then get the h4 lo/hi beam units from jrt. they come with a light shield integrated into the bulb to eliminate glare.
The neat thing about the German headlights is that they have an integrated motor that adjusts the beam height via a cockpit mounted switch. I have a friend in Germany who sourced out a switch and will be shipping it over. Hopefully I can wire it up pretty soon.

Thanks Chris.
I chose the JDM headlights because the high and low beam housings are independantly adjustable. With the USDM housings, it is one piece, so if you retrofit is not the same on both sides, when you flash your highbeams, they will light up different places.
The Euro headlights are only aesthetically pleasing. They have the ability to move up and down, but I have not seen anyone activate this function. Your lighting will not better itself, unless you use better lights bulbs mentioned before. You can clean your headlights properly in order to get them clear once again; sand paper, plastifiller, aluminum polish, and clear coat will work wonders.
A retro on the cheap:
Ballasts, bulbs, projectors, clear covers, and supplies can be had for $500.
I chose to do my retrofit for better lighting and it is one of my top upgrades to the car. I will be retrofitting projectors in the high and low beam housings on my next retrofit. I will also wire them up so that when I put the high beams on, the low beams stay on.

Not poor by no means lol...I just have a preference on how much I'm willing to spend on certain things, doesn't mean I can afford them.
BTW I have a screwdriver, a drill with phillip and flat head bits, and an electric screwdriver. Take your pick .
I might check with performance nissan on the glass. USdm silvia whats this I read on one site about the high beams having to be modified? I see you recommended some h4 hid kit, so I take it the german glass still use h4 bulbs. Was it the jdm lights that use something different than h4?
Anyway thanks for all the help.
Seems like in the end german glass might be the only choice, but from the posts it seems performance nissan are the people to talk to if I get them.
