i havew a ka24de, i have already removed the buttterfly valves on the intake manifold, but i want to remove all the EGR stuff, can i remove all of that with out messing up the way my cardrives, will i have to upgrade my ECU, which is what i think i would have to do, or what.

what does removing the butterfly valves accomplish?

i have been told that is gives you a few extra HP, i believe it just makes the intake less restrictive, also i think the 91 to 94's have them.

if i randomly undo some of my Emissions stuff, to see if it makes a differcne would i be putting my engine at any serious risk?

Basically, anything you do do your airflow system will effect how your car performs. Double check emissions regulations in your area before doing anything. Also, don't do anything unless you know what you're doing ("I heard it on the internet" doesn't count). This will effect the air going through the engine, which the ECU should be able to compensate for to an extent. But, you'd really want an ECU reprogramming to really take advantage of such modifications.

regulations are not a big prob here in florida, no emisions testing, and the one county that did have testing that i know of does not test anymore, i figured on the ECU upgrade.

well, first off, removing the EGR will leave u with holes in ur manifolds, and even if u plug them, a check engine light...why would u remove it? or why would u remove any emissions equipment? u may be able to get 5hp total, which u wouldnt feel...i'm not an emissions nazi - i hate emissions - but if you're not going to get any real performance, then whats the point? save the environment, save urself from unnecessary work. take that time and get a job to get some real performance projects, know what i mean?

job and money is not a problem, at least the last time i checkedd they were not problems, my engine is on a stand in my garage and has been rebuilt, the butterflys valves are out and the bpt valve is off and filled along with any other holes from the rod going through the intake, so since i have the engine out and on the stand anything else i can do would be good, i mean people spend a few hundred buck to pick up horsepower so anything i could get for free is more than i had before, and if you want mention the enviroment maybe we should have NASA stop sending the shuttle into space since that is quite a hit to the enviroment, and also send all the race cars into emisions testing and hook them up with EGR's and what not, anyway i am not being an ####### about it, but if i want to do it than i should.

i'm not saying that u should always conform to emissions - i have an sr swap. but if its not doing anything real for u to get rid of the emissions equipment, then why would u do it? you may feel ut on ur psychological "ass dyno", but on a real dyno gains would be negligible.
anyways, if you're really want to do this, the only thing i can think of that would actually help you some is replacing the car with a high flow unit or a test pipe.

but also with his re-build he might be able to get some more gains removing the emmisions garbage

EGR is in no way a power hit. It only comes on at part throttle cruising. How can you be sure? Intake manifold vacuum is what draws it in.
Gas tank vapor purge has no power hit.
PCV--no power hit.
The real power hit is the cats. They usually impose a 5-8% power reduction. So that could mean a gain of about 10 hp.
Removing the butterflies in the intake is a good idea to get power. These are called either CMCV (Charge Motion Control Valves) or IMRC (Intake Manifold Runner Control) Sounds like CMCV on the KA. These close at low load to promote better air/fuel mixing. They open at high load (rpm, throttle angle), but they still inhibit air flow through the runners. Mustang Cobra guys pull theirs out too and claim a slight power increase.

The ECM should notice the increased airflow via the MAFS and everything should be fine. What year car? If it is OBD-II the MIL will come on.

ftr, the main fuel used in a shuttle launch is liquid Hydrogen, who's byproduct when combusted is water <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>
Now, a hydrogen powered car, that would be cool. . .
