www.NorCal240SX.org
I have talked to Matt, the owner of the norcal240sx.org domain name. We'll be transfering the ownership of that domain to me so I can use it to post upcoming meets, events, etc, and set up a NorCal mailing list. (The current one requires Yahoo membership to post and is pretty much inactive.) This way people don't have to look through different forums to find the next meet. Who ever wants to set up a meet will be able to publicize it at a place where NorCal 240SX owners will look for meets.

The NorCal 240SX dream
Hopefully the site and the mailing list will be set up before the end of August. I expect that this will help our NorCal group grow and beniefit all of us in some ways. Good deals on performance parts *looks at Jeff*, knowledgable 240SX owners to help with installs, people with common interests who you can hang out with, etc.
One of the first steps to forming an organized NorCal 240SX group that will be recognized by other auto enthusiast groups and whatnot is having an organized 240SX meet. =)

August meet
Now that many of us have met at the National Convention, let's meet again. =P This time let's also invite the 240SX owners who didn't get to go to the convention.

Would you people prefer a meet on August 11 or August 18? Lunch time meet or dinner meet? Once we Zilvia people have decided on those, we'll decide on the exact time and place and then publicize it to other forums. I'm not sure if this will turn out to be a small or large meet. We'll see how it goes.

I used 12 rolls of film during the 3-day convention. Most of the pictures have been developed (one more roll to go) and a lot of them look quite stunning. (Photography's one of my hobbies. Pics were shot with a Nikon N80.) I'll bring an album with the pics so whoever wants to request reprints for themselves can do so. I know you can just find pics online but hey, 240SX photos on matte paper with white borders are beautiful! You know you want one on your wall. =D

We'll also collect e-mail addresses from everyone for the mailing list. I don't know about you guys but I'm pretty excited about getting an active and unified NorCal 240SX group going for everyone. =P I really believe that the web site and mailing list will make a difference.

If anyone needs to e-mail me: [email protected]

You know whats lame for me is the fact that I live in between SoCal and NorCal... so its like... which way do I go?! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/eh.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':eh:'>

I would like to head up to the Bay area for a meat some day though. &nbsp; Also we should try to work in a group track day. &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

Hey everyone, I got 2 more companies to my list. Endless/Zeal and Kaaz.

I could go to either night, I like the 11th better, I actually have another track day at Willow Springs on the 9th, but the big track this time. Night time would be better for me.

P.S. If you could take a good pict from my WebShots of Kate and post it up somewhere on the NorCal site "Best Stock S14" &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> We should have a memebers ride section too.

That's what I'm here for, to help get everyone parts. I finally got through to B&M, apparently there's a $5k buy in so unless I can find like 25 buyers for the short shifter, I'm going to go through one of their wholesalers, which could be more $$... I'll find out tomorrow.

Who's interested in a B&M short shifter, if you tried Koto's, man, that thing is freaking amazing <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':0'> &nbsp; <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sly.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':sly:'> &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

Haha Bill you can go either way. And hell yeah we'll definitely look more into track events. Day 3 was so much fun.

Hey Jeff I got a couple pics of you cleaning Kate. Very romantic. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

I think the 11th would be better too, so the convention is still fresher in people's minds, and the 18th is probably too close to the meet being set up by someone else. All right let's just make it on the 11th. We'll make it a "Welcome Back" meet for Jeff and Kate or something. ^o^

Date: August 11 - Sunday

How about 6 PM so there's enough daylight time for checking out each other's cars and taking pictures? And then we all go eat.

I say meet on the 18th at anytime lunch is good for those ppl who have to drive awhile to get there and get back before the day is over. Also look at the heat for the day or where ever we are going to meet.

the 18th would work. I just found out about the norcal team.
Lunch would be ok but a little later so we could get an
evening cruise on would be optimal.

the norcal240sx site needs to get going and I'm willing

GotDriftS14 = Mike from Stockton with the white S14. (Right?)

Drifting240racer (what's your name again?) and Karsten, would the 11th work for you guys? I prefer the 11th over the 18th because there is a meet being set up by someone else that's supposed to take place on the 23rd, but it's not really a big issue. And where are you from?

11th, D&B? &nbsp;Details, details....please.

Danio
08-02-2002, 04:53 AM
Some of us were thinking of having the meet inside D&B, where we can play arcades and all have dinner together. The problem is that we'll probably have a lot of people who are underage, under 21. Each adult 25 years or older can only bring in a maximum of four underage people. In other words at least 1/5 of the meet's attendees will have to be 25 or older, and I personally only know of two NorCal 240SX members who are that old. :P So let's think of other locations.

Any suggestions? Certain malls or shopping centers, restaurants, parks, etc?

Agent_S13
08-02-2002, 10:15 AM
Hey Danio-

&nbsp; &nbsp; Put my vote down for the 11th as well.

On a side note: I was thinking about getting ppl into DnB (while this is quite immature, I think Koto would agree to it haha)

Anyway, we would have 1 person who is 25 walk up w/ some younger ppl and take them inside. Then they could come out and take another group of underage ppl in. Most of the time, they don't care as long as the 25 yr old doesn't do it too much. Reminds me of how to get 3 ppl into a movie w/ 2 tickets. &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

Just how many people under 21 are going to be at this meet anyway? I'm 21 so I don't have to worry about these restrictions... its just too bad I can't bring anyone in with me. &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>

Is the 7 pm time, no matter what location we agree on still the norm for this meet? We'll need details!

P.S. At the meet, I'll show you all what happened to my clear signal bumper light on the drive back from LA... UGH. If anyone's got a clear bumper light housing for the passenger side, please let me know. Thanks!

I have no idea how many underage people we'll have, but if people 25 or older can bring in some underage people, walk out and bring in some more (most likely won't have to do it more than once), then we probably won't have a problem. Are you sure they can do that though? :P

Let's have the meet start around 5:00 or 6:00 PM if it's gonna be a dinner meet, so the people who have to drive an hour or two won't have to get home too late. Underage people would have to be out of D&B by 11:00 anyway.

We'll probably meet outside for an hour or so (maybe longer cuz I KNOW some people will be an hour late! :P) and greet each other, check out each others' cars, etc. Then go in for dinner and arcades for maybe two hours. (Hey Koto and I didn't see any Initial D arcade that someone was talking about.)

And afterwards, people can do whatever they want. At the end of meets people usually go home or go do something together in smaller groups.

That's all assuming we're having the meet at D&B and can bring in all the underage people who show up. :P By the way, for those who don't know, D&B is in Milpitas at the Great Mall.

Hi Guys, this is Pat. (Black s14 with black rims) I rarely post here. So just want to say Hi to you guys.

I will be going to the meet and either on 11 or 18 are fine for me. So count me in.

Oh and one concern, i believe it will be hard to find a parking space outside of D&B on the weekend, so it is difficult to park our 240sx all together. Maybe we can park somewhere else ( a little far away from D&B) and walk up there?

Hey Danio, I can help you to remove and install those parts, I did it myself before, so let me know. &nbsp; Also, you won't be able to bent ur control arm to normal, they are so damn strong. and the metal will be weaker if you really can bent it back.

Saturday would be best for me. I'm busy until then, I have a final on thrusday for my circuits class and I have to study. Leaving for track day right after the final so... Saturday would be good. The air compressor is very big, it shall require my 4 Runner to move (and I have to set it up for you) so... How's saturday for you pat?

P.S. I got a big fat jack and lots of stands too. I'll bring the crawler too just incase.

Oh, Daniel, is your garage clear cause it wouldn't be much fun working on a driveway unless it's very flat. I don't like cars falling on me... &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hehe:'>

Would Saturday night be all right? Only one side of the garage can be cleared, cuz we use the other side for storage. Hmm I hope that's enough room. :P

Thanks very very much!

Is sunday finalized? If so how long will the meet last. I ask because us youngens cant be in DnB past 10pm. Im a legal adult, can fight in a war, but cant eat food and play games past 10pm, weaksauce!

I'll be there with my s13 fastback. Its not fast, dont let the name full you. My knock sensor is bad and im running on safemode. I will fix it in a week when i drop the SR in. That will be the day &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

if anyone is selling black door panels, i would gladly buy them off you. lmk in advance so i can bring cash.

BlackFox
08-07-2002, 02:38 AM
You talking about the inside door pannels? There were some people on Parts Trader that had some, like 100 each or something. The new ones cost $600 each. I had a problem with one of mine, the door was stuck closed and i had to get the pannel off. I got it off so I can help if you have that problem. There's a Nissan junkyard up in Sac that might have it too, don't know the name, Mike could you find the name of the place?

P.S.- One more year till I can stay in D&B past 10pm... oh well. looks like the meet ends at 10 for most of us... unless we just hang around and don't tell them, as long as you look old enough, which I do &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

jOeHaCk98
08-07-2002, 10:19 AM
yea, the interior door panel. For 100 bucks each I can score the whole door. I might go this route and find a door with power locks and windows. The big problem is finding a 240 in the pick and pull lots. So if you drift, If you can help it, smash your tailend or front end. Thanks &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hehe:'>

Hey guys-

&nbsp; &nbsp; As long as you hang out with the main group and don't act too immature, you should be fine if you're in there after 10 pm. I've gone w/ friends under 21 and once they got in, it was no big deal. If you don't attract attention to yourself and don't make a scene, the staff won't ask you to leave. Just avoid the "security" (which usually stay near the bar and entrace to DnB) I didn't have any problems when I was under 21 and I got inside w/ a 25 yr old person... you guys should be cool (unless you look like you're 12... I know some of y'all won't have that problem, but I haven't met a lot of the other people yet) I say don't worry, once you're inside, its fine. &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sigh.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

Bill: Yeah this meet was kinda planned on short notice. We'll definitely do something big later on. Ehhehheh hope your mouth gets better. ^o^

All right I've got the money now (many many thanks to Mommy :D) so I'll be getting my junkyard parts today.

And yeah anyone who has pics should bring 'em. =) Hmm what about video? We probably won't have access to a TV + VCR but if your camcorder has an LCD screen mebby we can view what you recorded with that. But of course that's expensive equipment so it's up to you if you wanna bring it. :P

I have a new generic S14 front strut tower bar which I'll bring to see if anyone's interested in buying. Grant convinced me to get it, but I think I wanna save up for a pair of sway bars instead. :P hell, cuzza that curb I'll need to save up for rims.

Oh yeah speaking of rims... Hey Jeff, I gotta ask ya before you leave. I know you'll be in a rush down to SoCal and you're carrying a whole lotta stuff, but on your way back would it be possible for you to pick up a pair of wheels from Bill? If not, ish kewl. I can keep looking around here also.

I got an email from [email protected] (who is this by the way?) about a "NorCal 2.4 Aftershock", do you guys know what this is all about? Is it just a big meet for 240sx owners with some publicity?

I would like to attend all NorCal meets, but since I'm from Oregon, I can only attend big and special events. Also I can't attend any meets until my account has recovered from the damages made by the 240sx National Convention. Hope to see some of you soon. When I visit relatives there.

August meets
That "2.4 Aftershock" is a separate meet being organized by a Mark from San Jose. His August 23 meet involves publicized street racing afterward which I hope doesn't attract too much attention from cops, but he does have some nice ideas for NorCal 240SX owners and I like the fact that he can get models. ^o^ We'll most likely be coordinating meets with him in the future. He's gonna be at the August 11 meet also.

TJ if I were you, I'd skip both these meets and wait for a bigger NorCal meet in the future. We'll keep you informed of course. :]

Again, our meet is taking place on August 11, 6:00 PM at Dave & Buster's.

My car
Okay I got the driver side lower control arm, the sway bar end thingy, and the whole rack & pinion. I didn't get the tension rod because I think the one on my car is fine and it's another $50 or so. Jeff, Pat, Koto, I'm counting on you guys. ;_; I'll make sure there's snacks and drinks while you're here. :P I get off work at 9:30 PM this Saturday night.

NorCal240SX.org web site
- what should be in it
- is a forum necessary
- who will write articles

NorCal 240SX mailing list
- open invitation or meet attendees only
- moderated or not
- what topics are allowed or not allowed

Future of NorCal 240SX
- our mission
- short and long term goals

Next meet
- what activities
- when
- other NorCal locations to consider
- ways to promote

Chi Rho Tuning
- current deals and group buys
- how to order

August 23 meet
- the host, Marc, will be there
- info on that meet
- attend or boycott

Those of you bringing friends, keep in mind that underage people (under 21) will need to be accompanied by an adult 25 or older to enter D&B. I don't know how many people at the meet will be 25 or older but each one can only bring in four underage people. If you have an older cousin or big bro or whoever over 25 who you can bring along, that might help us out. :P If we end up with too many underage people, well, we'll figure something out.

Way too much. :P

Anyway, everyone remember that the meet starts at 6:00 PM at D&B. $#!+ I hope there's enough parking spots... Sorry about the halfass job that went into planning this meet. :P I don't know if there will be enough parking spots, and I don't know if all of us will be able to go into D&B. But hey, actually, we planned it so poorly so that we'll have things to talk about when we discuss how to make the next meet better. ^_^;

We'll see what happens. If we really can't get everyone into D&B because of too many underage people and not enough adults 25+, maybe we'll just look for a different restaurant at Great Mall and forget about D&B's arcades.

Those of you who borrowed an FRS from someone else and have not returned it, please bring it to the meet. You can either return it to the owner or give it to me if he's not there, and I'll deal with returning it.

See y'all in a few hours.

Sup fellas, how was the meet? &nbsp;Hope you guys had fun.

Well I had a disappointing weekend at CMI. &nbsp;I was hoping for low to mid 13's but the best I could pull was a 13.8! &nbsp; It was just too freakin hot out there! &nbsp;Well over a hundred degrees. &nbsp;I also saw another s13 with slicks being trailered in but I didn't get a chance to talk with the owner or see it run. &nbsp;I heard he has an sr with NOS and runs 12's! &nbsp;Too bad I didn't get that on tape. &nbsp;Oh well, I'll probably check out Wednesday night drags at Sears point some time. &nbsp;I know it'll be cooler there so I should do a little better.

Rudy

P.S. &nbsp; They should've called the event 'The Battle of the Garden Tools'. &nbsp;"In the left lane we have a lawnmower and in the right lane a leaf blower"...haha. &nbsp; Those Hondas sounded like crap!! &nbsp; My ears are still hurting &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

great meet. but i had to run. me--- willie-- blue playaz jersey...

Meet was cool, but there was some misinformed peeps there.. so lemme spread some knowleged. This guy ( didnt catch your name but you are a teen with the s13 that gets shitty mileage, looks 1/2 white) said how S14 sucks because they are expesive.. (seen them around 4k-5k for 1995). He also said they suck because they are a lot heavier than the fastback. He said he was all about drifting and the fastback was the way to go.. First fact: s14 SE weights-2760 (manual)
S13 SE weighs- 2730. 30 lbs doesnt seem like "hella" heavier to me. 2nd fact.. I'd rather drift a coupe because the chassis is stiffer due to the fact that is has the speaker rack or whatever its called.

Also this dude, sorry to pick on you but you talked with so much conviction ike you knew all about it, that the SR comes with sleaves... it does not.

The Diablo?

Hey I wanna thank everyone for attending. The turnout was way better than expected. We weren't anticipating so many people, but it was awesome that you all came. As the meet progressed from the parking lot to the arcades to the dinner tables, fewer and fewer people remained but that's normal and it worked out very well. I met new people and some of us got together after the meet and had some fun. Like I've said before, one of the best things about going to meets is the stuff you do afterward with the people you met. We're off to a good start. Like Mike said, it only gets better from here! This meet was a result of minimal planning and last-minute promoting. Imagine what our meets will be like when we actually put effort into the planning and promote like crazy. =D

Hey Mike thanks a bunch for the wheels.

Okay, we've just had a meet in Milpitas. Would you people like to move west or north for the next meet? Clockwise or counter-clockwise around the Bay? (We'll get to Stockton and Sacramento and other places eventually.)

By the way, at the August 11 meet, 42 people submitted their e-mail addresses for the mailing list, which should be up in a week or so according to Karsten. Just thought I'd let you guys know. =)

Edit: One more thing. I wanna thank Jeff, Ben, Bob, and Pat for helping me replace my car's damaged lower control arm and tie rod. And many thanks to Mike from Stockton for the S12 wheels.

your welcome. &nbsp;so how did the repairs go? did everything fit o-k? &nbsp;install pics?? hehe

hmmm i say go west. &nbsp;i dont see much of a point in having a meet in stockton since stockton sucks and theres nothing to do out here haha, but hey if theres a high demand, we can find something to do in the area...well maybe by the time we rotate clockwise to stockton there will be more fun stuff to do, haha...yeah right....

hey Greg with the S13 hatchback from stockton, are you on zilvia at all? i think i saw u driving today but i was driving a 4Runner from work hehe.

Bill, how about Laguna Seca!! that would be awesome. &nbsp;ive never been to buttonwillow, how is it? i know thunderhill is an awesome track, but its pretty far north...hmmm maybe we sould all pitch in and buy our own patch of land and just make a huge skidpad haha, or put a few islands on it to drift around like Ebisu circuit in Japan, i saw it in some Option videos haha it looks like fun. &nbsp;hey if i win the lotto, i'd do it for you guys!

Oh we ran into a few problems here 'n there. The damaged lower control arm had to be sliced to get the tension rod off. The tie rod was a pain in the ass to remove from the rest of the gear assembly, especially with the little lock thing holding it in place. Etc etc etc. But after about 5 hours of work on Day 1 and 10 hours on Day 2, we got it all done. =) I just have to get a wheel alignment done, which I've scheduled for tomorrow.

And yeah I got some pics.

LOL! I'm sure Koto will agree that the last meet at SF (Ocean Beach, I think) SUCKED! If I remember correctly, a total of 8 people showed up. Two of us (including myself) were an hour late, and three were two hours late. Haha... But that was a poorly planned meet and no effort went into getting the word out. We've learned our lesson. But sure, we can do a meet in SF.

Mmm but how about someplace south of San Francisco first? Like around Redwood City or San Mateo? (That way we can literally have meets "around" the Bay. :P) The only place I can think of is Malibu Grand Prix. Anyone know any other good place around that part of the Bay?

Bill- The track day was cool. It was a long day. I left the Bay Area at 11pm thursday night because I had my Circuits class final that night. So me, my friend ken, kevin, and rob drove down. Ken has a 98 ITR and Rob has a 97 Jetta VR6. Kevin rode with me, he's got a FC. Well, we arrive at Devonshire Inn at 3:30am and go to sleep. We wake up at 7am and pack up and eat some of the free breakfast they have at the hotel. (orange juice concentrate and danishes) So we get to the track (the big track this time) and go through the usual meeting and checking of our cars. The sessions were 30min each. The big track is 2 1/2 miles I think is what they said. Anyways, I finally found out yesterday that it was 106 down there. After about 2 sessions I realized that my tires were melting. I would come into the pits and make a left turn to back into my spot and there would be rubber tracks w/chunks on the ground. My friend Ken had bad luck with his car. His car had been burning oil for one reason or another and he forgot to check it before he went out on the track. He did about 5 laps and his engine died, he limped back into the pits to find that his car had no oil in it. His car would turn over but wouldn't start. He went and rented a U-haul and towed his car back to the Bay Area. Turns out his car spun 2 rod bearings and broke his crank. So he needs new pistons, rods and crank. His block is thankfully okay. Rob came in on the last lap of the day, as he was coming around the big turn at around 110-120mph he tried to shift out of 4th but it wouldn't come out, he came in the pits and found that his shift linkage had come apart. He lost his counter weight somewhere but got the rest back on and drove home. We left there around 5pm and got home at 10pm.

Whew, that was long.

Paintball or Malibu Grand Prix is good for me. How bout paintball in SC, like TAG?

I probably won't go to any more track events this season. My tires are dead and my T/C Rod bushings are dead too so i need to change those. I also got lots of stuff to pay for. Eessshhh.... <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> &nbsp;I need new tires, but i'm not getting new tires until i get new wheels, and i'm not getting new wheels until i get shocks, and i'm not getting shocks until i get sways, and i'm not getting sways until the end of this month hopefully, and i also need my rear STB. lots of $$$ there.

Does SC = Santa Cruz?

Since the majority of 240SX enthusiasts in Northern California are probably from the Bay Area, I'm thinking we should have a few more meets in the Bay Area mainly just to gather members. That way when we have meets which are farther away, we'll have a better chance of getting good attendence rates.

The farther the meet gets, the fewer number of people are gonna show up. Same with cost. The higher the cost, the fewer the people. Of course having a lot of members doesn't mean that they'll all show up at the next meet, but at least we'll be able to inform all of them about it.

My point is that I think we should save paintball for later when we're bigger.

So what do you guys think of Malibu Grand Prix or Q-zar? (Any questions about what those are?) I'm guessing both places would offer discounts for group events. If we choose one of these places I'll find out what kind of rates we can get.

Any other suggestions?

no malibu grand prix. &nbsp;if you want to do cart racing goto speedring. &nbsp;its more professional and you get to pass people and just gun it! &nbsp;theres 2 different rates, $25 for 30 minutes, or $50 for 30laps + qualifying(5 laps i assume) &nbsp;thatd be fun. &nbsp;and right across the street is a gym of some sort, last time i was there there was women volleyball &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/lookaround.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':look:'> &nbsp;

but we can always just go somewhere and hang out. &nbsp;im not a big fan of lazar tag, but im up for paintball.

hey guys well since i'm in arizona now it will be hard for me to get back to the bay. if there is a meet every 1 or 2 months that would be awsome. i know for sure that ill be back in thanksgiving week and we should have a meet then.i hope by then my car would have a FMIC and a better fuel system.but anyways, i think in late sept to early oct would be a good time for a meet. maybe on a saturday afternoon. just a thought <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'> &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

i think he meant SC village , the paintball park down in corona cali. its near la .....thats a bit 2 far.

anyway theres always golden gate park 4 the BBQ. lots of nice areas for that. but most of the time theres overcast and fog so i opt 4 somewhere more sunny more inland. but i cant predict the weather 4 the meet day.

if possible could i get a set date if this meet is going to b in september. i have to submit my schedule for work the day after 2m and id love to get the chance to finally go to a meet with my own car. =)

BBQ would be nice. &nbsp;just find a place with a nice big parking lot. &nbsp;so we can all be in the same area and not spread out. &nbsp;

i dont think half moon bay is that great of a place to go, maybe just for the drive.

yes SC village is in corona. yes too far. I thought that is what you meant.

If you want a nice park to BBQ there is always Alum Rock park. I have always liked that park, good parking and plenty of Q pits. Just an Idea. Or a community center. I work at one. The park is huge, the parking is enough to fit a large group, but there isnt much to do there.

After getting so much negative feedback, the host of that meet is trying to make it NOT a street racing meet, and blames the idea on BayAreaStreetRacing.com (BASR). He also reworded the evite invitation (http://www.evite.com/r?iid=AEJENCGLSOUIKPSWWVRR&li=iq) a bit, but in my opinion it's still misleading and creating what I like to call superficial hype. I'm not going because 1) he informed three different police districts about the meet, and I don't like attention from cops, 2) BASR is involved and I don't want any association with them, 3) I feel that the invitation is embarrassing to the NorCal 240SX community (read it) and I don't want to be associated with it (I hope other auto enthusiast groups didn't get that invitation.), 4) that friday is pay day at work, and I wanna get paid. =) But wutever. I'm not gonna stop anyone from going and I'm not trying to start any trouble with Marc.

Maybe we should have a joint meet with another car club to show people that we're an organized group, or at least starting to be one. I'm sure Kevin can get his RX-7 people involved. What do you guys think about having a BBQ with an RX-7 group?

Hey Danio, I totaly agree with you about the whole thing. Thats why basr.net is going to change their name. But please don't get mad at basr.org cause i work there as a editor =-P. Anyways i'll still be going to the meet, but hey am down with a RX7 meet, am thinking of getting one anyways cause i don't want to run my car all day to school cause i start College today. If i get my grades high enough for my parents i can get a new car. I been finding that they pretty cheap compare to a newer 240sx with adding a SR and other stuff to it. But remember i got 2 240's and i just need to sell one of them, so i'll still be a 240 owner &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> &nbsp;lets get a date set here and no getting the word out to the police and junk. BBQ plans

Which type of BBQ meet do you guys prefer?

A. A few of us prepare everything (food, plates, BBQ grill, etc.) and everyone who eats donates about $3.

B. We discuss online about what we're gonna bring and hope everyone involved shows up, preferably on time.

The last time we had a 240SX BBQ meet, we tried arranging online who brings what, but of course most of the attendees didn't post on the forum. We ended up with way too much food (which meant more mess to clean up), but it was still fun.

To make it more organized, we can have a few people take care of the food and stuff, and just have everyone who eats donate about $3. The money collected would reimburse those of us who set up the BBQ, and any profit would go towards future 240SX meets.

So which do you guys prefer? Everybody go out and bring something or just show up and pay 3 bucks? :P

Good idea Daniel. &nbsp;I have no problem buyin some food for the next bbq/meet. &nbsp;The idea of other attendees donating $3.00 for food and the norcal240sx.org fund is a good one. &nbsp;I'm down for this, and if I forget buying food, I have no problem paying 3 bux. &nbsp;

Wussup everybody. &nbsp;The D&B meet was pretty good. &nbsp;Although I didn't have a 240sx to show for it, I was there in my RX7 FC3S. &nbsp;Oh yeah, if you don't know, I'm the Kevin from the RX7 boards that Danio keeps talking about. If any of you are interested, www.rx7club.com and I organized a RX7 meet/BBQ for August 24th, Saturday, at the Cupertino Memorial Park. &nbsp;Its located across the street from De Anza College. &nbsp;I'll be hosting the BBQ and I'll start up the grills promptly around 12 Noon. &nbsp;Most of the RX7 members will arrive around 1pm. &nbsp;
I'm opening this BBQ up to the zilvia forum becuz I last threw a meet with this forum back a few months ago to drive Highway 9 and everyone I met from this forum has great personality and some good looking cars to match. &nbsp; The RX7 guys don't mind having 240sx around, we all love cars, and we all love talking about them.
I'll have some food there for a few people, but just for safety, you may want to bring your own food or bring some food to share (the DeAnza AutoX BBQ I threw had 20+ people and cars come, so I ran outta food).
Come and join us. &nbsp;

- Kevin

BTW, if you decide to come, park at the senior center parking. &nbsp;Otherwise, just look for all the RX7s.

See Danny, the problem with not having it somewhere in the Southeast Bay Area is that it will be cold as fuck. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

So, I propose somewhere in the East Bay, preferably where it's kinda warm... Pleasanton, Concord, some place like that.

Sure, it's a bit far but at least the weather will be good. Frisco, DC, Colma, Oakland, Pacifica, places like that are no good cus they're too close to the water and it'll be freezing. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

Anyway I say we go for the few people organize/everyone else coughs up dough cus people are flakes; they'll either forget, bring too little or come late, which is bad for everyone involved. I', not trying to be mean, I mean I believe most of us are nice people and all, but I know I am prone to forget/flake on things like that. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hehe:'>

I haven't gone there in awhile (well just recently read the post about the Aug 23rd meet -- thanks Danio for the link!<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'> <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

After hearing about what happened to Marc (7hedon) at the meet, I really haven't heard much about him lately.... tho he does frequent the above board much more than any other. I read his 1 response, but I haven't read anything else. While I don't think an "apology" to the other 240 owners that went out there is needed, an apology for the type of meet might be needed. I think that this group is a very "enthusiast" type group who know a lot more technical aspects than other car group owners. I think its due to the fact that we're limited to US parts and availability, sure that's slowly starting to change, but we still can't go to a speedshop in hopes of having parts for our cars in stock. This is why I think its better we not invite the "uniformed" crowd, sure we can teach them, no problem bout that, but most will base their opinions on what they've seen/read. This just happens to be the case w/ most stereotypical uninformed owners who think their cars are the "fastest". I don't want future mights (like the one on the 23rd) to come off as a "bragging rights" meet.. that's all. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>

Anyway, I think that his kind of meet is different from what us owners want. Our Aug 11 was very casual and cool, with no intentions of anything that would be going down. We kept the "invite" list to the "normal" people and that's what we got - a laid-back meet that was enjoyable. I expect the same type of atmosphere for the Oct 6th bbq. Anyway, I'll try to make it and put more screennames with faces!

This stuff is all my opinion so I thought I'd put this li'l "disclaimer" in. Should you feel the need to comment/flame, please contact me privately so I can clarify that I'm not trying to attack Marc, but just express my opinion.

P.S. I don't mind meeting non-240 owners, but I don't want to show my car off to potential thieves who will know how to get in/out of my car or know what parts they can sell off for cash. (I'm not too worried, I'm still moslty stock! haha) Reminds me of that RX-7 incident a few weeks back

For those who didn't get to read what happened before nissan-240sx.com went down, it seems that police showed up 30 minutes into the August 23 meet and ended it. (I didn't go to that meet.) I'm wondering what exactly made the police break up that meet. Was it the disclaimers sent to them by Marc about the street race or was it the people at the meet? It probably wasn't because it was on a Runs night since police have ignored other Friday meets before. Police did visit us at our August 11 meet also, but we weren't told to leave. I hope the August 23 meet doesn't affect future meets in this area and how 240SXs are viewed by police around here.
Anywaaay, the BBQ meet will probably be on October 6, but I'm not sure yet. We'll have to see what Kevin says about that. The location is gonna be at Cuesta Park in Mountain View. Pretty soon I'll gather a few people for setting up the BBQ.

About Marc's meet, I don't know what made the police kick us out, but it had nothing to do with the people there or the way they were acting. It was very laid back and no one did anything stupid. I did go, and I planned on going to the Aug 11th meet as well, but was unable to make it. I don't think people should give Marc such a hard time about that though, he is a good guy and genuinely interested in his car as well as others, I think he just got a little over excited with that invitation. Anyway, when I was talking about the demise of nissan-240sx.com, I wasn't actually talking about the meet, I was refering to the site itself. Unfortunately, it is gone, the webmaster shut it down with no notice.

About the meet, I think it would be cool to go for a drive down hwy 9, I actaully live in Santa Cruz, so I drive it every day to work, but I don't have a chance to drive the section between here and SJ very often. Hope I haven't offended anyone, I am just here to learn more about my car, since I am a relatively new owner still and there is always more to learn. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

Part of the radiator core support, behind the headlight and grill, is bent. Other than replacing the headlight, hood, and grill, I think that metal just needs to be pulled back out. Do you know places which can do that? Thanks man.

Hey Daniel,

I've checked with the RX7club forum and they're good to go. We have our national RX7 meet in Irvine, CA on September 28 and 29. So having a BBQ/Meet will be good for us in October.

Do you need any help fixing your car? Bring the reindeer and smoke that thing. Not big enough fire? We'll just back up a few RX7s and blow flames at it.

Norcal240sx.org is already up, kind of, and has been for some time now. Unfortunately I don't know where our server admin disappeared to (vacation?) so we don't have a mailing list yet. And I don't think we're ready for our own forum yet.

Well we're only planning the BBQ meet. We're not gonna have the entire group of 30 or so people drive together to go do something. :P

A few of us will be providing the food and everyone who eats will donate about $3. Hopefully that'll be more organized than having everyone bring food. Was it you who volunteered to help cook for the BBQ? If so I'll probably be contacting you later.

Daniel,

I'll cook again if you like. &nbsp;I usually do. &nbsp;I think that Saturday before the meet, you and I should go to Costco to buy the food. &nbsp;I have a Costco card. &nbsp;$3-5 per person for food sounds good. &nbsp;I know my rx7 buddies eat a dungload. &nbsp; They'll eat their $3 worth and then some.

Noon is always a good time. &nbsp;

I always say when planning a BBQ/Meet, if anyone wants to cruise or go driving after the meet, thats perfectly fine. &nbsp;I just don't want it to involve the BBQ/Meet. &nbsp; If you want to drive or cruise, discuss it there at the BBQ or call each other up. &nbsp;Posting locations of where you're going to drive is bad. Cops go through these forums every-so-often.

See you all there.

Flyers
I was gonna make flyers for the BBQ but my friend is strongly against it, because it may attract too many "assholes" such as Ricers or people doing donuts. I've also been informed that we're going to have an idiot from the RX-7 group showing up (I don't mean Kevin), and that almost made a lot of RX-7 owners boycott this meet. For this meet I guess we'll just use word of mouth and 240SX forums to let people know about it. (Same as before.)

Solo II
I've done autocross a couple times many months ago, but it's too expensive for me so I stopped. Oakland Coliseum also hosts Solo II.

So i can press my luck and call my uncle to remeber where that guy is at so he can go to dealer and have them fax me the papers i need, or put the car up for sale for parts. Name tags sounds like a good idea, so does a video. I can always edit if no one else wants to &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

Meet info
Date: October 6
Time: 12:00 noon
Location: Cuesta Park in Mountain View

Let's have salad for the BBQ also. Don't want everyone to be constipated after the meet.

Hey fodive and NZO, can you PM or e-mail me your AIM screennames? If you don't use AIM, just your e-mail address will be fine.

hey Fodive, you saying that the 240s WILL OWN, is that a challenge? &nbsp;HahAa.. I'm sure some of the RX7s will accept that challenge. &nbsp;I'm just joking. &nbsp; We're all there to meet and chat. But if you wanna run one of the 7s, I'm sure one of them will be cool with it. &nbsp;Right now, I'm working on a 1995 CYM FD3S. &nbsp;Garret T78, Greddy FMIC, 1200cc injectors, Apex'i Power FC, and what-not. &nbsp;Hoping to get 450-500hp outta the car. &nbsp;WahOoo...

The Rx7's will be there. &nbsp; If we look tired at the BBQ, its cuz we're having our national RX7 meet in Irvine the weekend before this BBQ/Meet. &nbsp; So please put up with us if we're a little groggy. &nbsp; We're usually really nice.

- Kevin

P.S. &nbsp;Hey Daniel, which rotary guy is causing trouble from my group? &nbsp;I can have him booted or get him flamed if he shows up and causes trouble for us. &nbsp;I don't play nicely with stupid people, rotorhead or not.

Hey guys, me and Fodive will team up to bring a nice Video from the meet that is going to go down Oct. 6th. So if anyone is going to take video footage as well and want to send it in for us to combine in the Video let me know or if you want to help out too just let me know. Me and Fodive were talking about music background. Since this is going to show everyones cars, we should ask everyone for their opinion. Me and Fodive were thinking about Techno or Rock. If this is cool with everyone, what song should pick? Post up any and we would vote after. If not enough post are up by the end of this week Fodive and I will pick one our selves. How about introduction? Logo? Anything we should add? Let me know your ideas post up. Peace.

hey Koto,

you're right. The car was originally montego blue but got repainted to CYM. &nbsp;

And what about Batman? &nbsp;Batman isn't a problem. &nbsp; He's actually really cool. &nbsp; He never causes any trouble. &nbsp;Only thing he does is give everyone his powdercoating speech. &nbsp; He tries to make money by telling people to powdercoat their rims, manifolds, etc. &nbsp;Batman isn't a problem. &nbsp; He's actually a really funny guy.

cali240sxdrifter, yeah, the FD3S isn't very friendly with tall people. &nbsp;I'd say if you're 6'0" and up, you're not gonna be sitting in very comfortably. &nbsp;I'm 5'8" so it isn't a problem, but my head is already close enough to the roof.
