So... Ignition system?
Jacobs, or MSD.  I don't think I like the sending my dist. cap to Jacobs part.... does MSD make you do that too?
Err... don't know a damn thing about ignitions...

get a MSD 6AL with a two step rev limiter.

i want to get it so bad.

with slicks, u can set the first rev limiter at like 4500rpm and built boost and then just launch out of the hole

I just saw the MSD SCI online.  Looks nice... but if you say 6al... I'll probably go with that.
Anyone else have an opinion here?
Also... 10.3mm OBX plug wires... any opinions on those, either?
I'm just in the mood to burn cash this week.

I've got the SCI. It improved idle and seemed to rev easier. I only had it hooked up a few days before I started having surging and hesitation problems so I am sure I haven't realized the gain. I have ordered new wires and a coil which I hope will help.  Plus, I only paid $160 for it.

it only retails for like $320

Boosted, if I'm not mistaken, the DIS system is for distributor-less cars, like SR motors...
I am looking into the MSD 6AL... looks nice, and has the ports for the 2-step limiter.

To the wires... would anyone get, or has anyone heard of, OBX 10.3mm wires?

i have the holly anniahlator digital ignition system on my car .holly has awesome tech support and they have been around since the muscle car dayz so their reputation is probably the best in the industry and they are showing a huge amount of support for the import "scene" more than most of the old school muscle car companies are at this point! just my .02 cents!!

Jeff go with the HKS Twin Power Distributor type.   It's the only one on the market that is both capacitor and transistor type.  I've used it on my FD and am getting it for my SR.  It really helped my FD with throttle responce and also the fact that you WANT to run rotaries a bit rich it helped alot with combustion of the rich mixture.

I would stay away from Jacobs...LOTS of rotary guys have problems with it.

If you want something specifically for good drag...go with the B&M.   Some people have found it a bit strong for daily driving and put a switch on it so they can have it on at the track and off on the street(unless they are racing someone).

For ignitions, usually I say go with the MSD box (6A or 6AL, etc.) That is what JWT recommended when I asked Clark about ignitions and turbo KA's. AFAIK, the MSD SCI is basically an MSD 6A in a chrome box with a higher pricetag. The problem is...installing a 6A is a PITA on an S14 because of the internal coil. The distributor needs to be modified to add a wire to give the MSD box a crank trigger signal. That makes the HKS ignition seem like a good choice, since it hooks up as easily as an MSD in an S13. So for S13's get MSD, for S14's, consider HKS if you can't find someone who can properly modify the S14 distributor.

For plug wires, OEM only. That is what JWT recommends, and I stand by them.

Jeff what state are you in...One of my friends has a Twin Power off his SW20 that he sold.  He only had the car for a couple monthes and most of the time it was in the shop having the motor built.  If you want it he has it for $150.

Rotary.. I may want that HKS ignition, but will it work on the KA?  I know the SR motor has coil packs, and the KA doesn't... so I'm pretty sure there is something that won't make them compatible.
But if they are, could you tell me the specs on it, like is there a rev-limiter and such?
Thanks

The HKS Twin Power for the SW20 will work on a KA since the Mr2 and KA are both distributor type ignition.  The TP Distributor type is also the same you would use on a Honda.  HKS has DLI,DLII, Rotary, and Distributor Type TP.

Does it have a rev-limiter and would you really recommend this for a KA-T?
If so, email me at [email protected] for a sale, so we can take this off the forum.

Ummm I'd go with msd 6al (that's what i'm going to be doign later on). It's proven, people use it on KAs and it's a company that only does ignition stuff, so you can be sure it's quolity.

As for obx wires.... i think 10.3 is overkill. 8.5 would probably be the most you'll ever need &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>
