Ruby Red Pearl, motivation...

I need convincing to keep my 95' S14 'Ruby Red Pearl'. My car looks horrible right now and I'm getting ready for paint, but I'm tempted to change colors since I am not fond of the red, it just seems so boring for a sport coupe. ...the idea of a color change makes me cringe though as I'd want to strip the car and paint the whole chassis, and that just isn't feasable now. :(

Let's see some nice ruby Red Metallic S14's so that maybe I won't bastardize my paint... or maybe some shades of paint that are close to RRP but are more sporty looking on the S14.

To be honest with you man I think red is the number 1 sports car color. In my opinion and experiences with red cars, I would change the color. I as well as many of my friends who have owned red cars have always had horrible luck with red cars. IE things flying of the road and smashing into the car, and idiot people hitting them, as well as a cop magnet. For some reason red seems to be a magnet for horrible things happening. Just my 2 cents. Cameron

I've never had bad luck with red cars. It's all a myth imo.
I like seeing red ones because EVERYONE always repaints them another color.
My first S13 was white, and I repainted it red, just because so many red S13 owners were painting their red ones other colors.
If you want to see sweet red S14's, Viceroy's cars are a great example.

Red will often make a car look more sporty than other colors.
If you need proof, compare a Guards Red 911 turbo to a silver one.

My old car was ruby pearl. I loved her, she was gorgeous. honestly, she was a bit of bad luck too. got hit in stupid accidents that weren't my fault a number of times, and then finally totaled when some stupid b!tch ran a stop sign into her. Despite that I absolutely love the color, and I'm actually about to get my new S14 painted. I'm on the fence between black and ruby pearl.

I almost painted over my silver moss kouki...then i relized how dumb that would have been.

In the end it's your car, what colour do you like the most? I'm all about keeping things original, so I'd take that colour to a shop and get them to tweek it a little, more pearl or gloss or something to make it super shiny. That's about it for my input.

All 95-98 'base' S14's are four lug, the 95-98 S14 SE's are the 5-lug version. There is a great majority of 'base' model S14's out there. My rear 5-lug conversion comes in Monday, I'll swap the front whenever I stumple upon cheap hubs. :(

Yea, more pearl might look nice in the Ruby Red, one color I was really considering that was similar is the Ford Mustang 40th anniversary 'Crimson Red'

I am in love with gray on this car, Silver Moss, Concord Grey and Ford Dark Shadow Gray are just stunning colors in person.

I'm still hoping to stumple upon some cheap sideskirts before I paint her so I have some thought time but I feel like I'm trapped in the dark red range.... DPWIZ's car does look amazing though. I guess it is just hard for me to like the color because I've NEVER seen one in good shape in person, they are always burned like mine or faded to a darker/dull finish that is just unappealing.

The car will be sitting on 17" Ford Bullitt wheels as well once I finish my 5 lug, same pictured above.

this was the first time i had seen this color in person, and it is GORGEOUS. i didn't know it was factory color until i asked around the event. very very very nice.

def an awesome color on a clean car with a good wax job. Origin uses the color on their cars too...


threadstarter: Idk what the condition of your paint it, but I bet if you took a day to wash and wax the shit outta it, you would appreciate the color more. Additionally, clean out your door jambs, you will see the original color of the car w/o sun fading.

i have a burgundy S14 as well.. so many scratches and swirl marks and shit, its starting to make me sick.. but after seeing dapcwiz's s14, i really do want to repaint my car stock color again.. i love it.. btw.. if you have a minute, and some polarized sunglasses, take a look at your car through the sunglasses.. itll give it a semi-metallic luster, which is what i plan on doing now on repaint :) BTW.. the 350z cherry or whatever.. deep deep burgandy is sexy as hell too, look into it

I like the red. Don’t like cops though. I've pitch the back end out, in an intersection, in the rain, in front of a cop and he didn't even notice. Black cars are my fav.

That said, I thinks a nice set of rims would work wonders as it does with almost anything. The money spent on the paint as opposed to painting the trunk only could so better be spent.

Oh I wasn't recommending rota grids...I was mentioning about the ruby red S14 in the other pic, I said if you just put some rims on I think it will look a lot better, Trust me I HATE Rota.
