i bought a '92 240SX SE fastback with no sunroof option. it has every option except sunroof and the HICAS/ABS/LSD package. i was in the junkyard a couple days ago and saw a fastback with the factory sunroof... and i got to wondering how much work would be involved in installing that sunroof in my car. honestly, besides cutting the hole in my roof, how much more work would be involved? swapping the headliner? where's the courtesy light go in sunroof-equipped cars? i really want the sunroof, though... i just came from owning a convertible, and the hardtop is driving me mad!

shouldn't this be in the technical section? <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>

Having the sunroof in my fastback, I wish they hadn't put it there. &nbsp; It was nice when I bought the car, but I rarely use it and it makes a lot of noise (cross winds make it noisy, and it squeeks a lot over bumps). &nbsp;Personally, I'd rather have a fixed roof and stiffer chassis (plus a higher headliner to better clear my helmet, I'm 5'10 on a good day and I have less than 1" of clearance when wearing it). &nbsp;Though if I didn't have the sunroof, I'd probably want it too. &nbsp; Now the power one on the coupe would be worthwhile.

well, i figured a good install wouldn't rust... and head clearance could be a prob, i guess. but cabin noise doesn't bug me coming from a convertible, where you have to crank your stereo to near max just to hear it over the wind when the top is UP...
would the power one even fit on the hatch roof?

No, I don't believe the powered one off the coupe would work. &nbsp;First off it would be a much harder install, and secondly, I think the hatchback roof is too short as well as probably not having a pocket for it to fit in when retracted.

The nice thing about the sunroof is when removed it is a very large opening (twice as big as on the coupe), but its a PIA to carry around and is only worthwhile on really nice days (maybe if I lived in cali I'd like it more). &nbsp; To me it sounds like a lot of work for something i'd rather do without. &nbsp; It just seems too cheap (both in how it looks and operates) to me. &nbsp; But hey, its your car.
