I drive a 98 240s with suspension mods. I am stuck. I do not know what I should get next to set up the car for drift/grip I have adjustable chamber in the front and rear, adjustable toe in the rear and tein flex suspension ( stock LSD). I was thinking wheels, tires and brakes. Is this a good choice ? Antirollbars? Struts? I know stiffer is better for drift but this makes grip hard if it is overdone. I also was thinking exhaust for smoother throttle response. I thought a cage would slow the car down since the horsepower/ torque is low. Any I deas ? Im on a budget at the moment. ANy S14drifers have any advice?

learn your car with the parts its got right now, then go from there.
I would suggest renting, better yet buying the Drift kings DvD and installing a double din video playback deck in your 14 and studying while driving play back while resting. .. .then playing again on the way home.
Best regards

Well, definitly adjust the chamber so that whatever is inside cannot get out.
I say get a bucket seat or 2 way LSD.
Brakes would be good too

I think you should be most concerned with choosing a good aftermarket LSD and getting a good tire setup as far a $ is concerned.
But like NI YON Zenki said, learn with what you have and don't depend on parts too much.

you should definetly consider buying a after market lsd, the type dpends on what your really going to be doing, a full 2 way is best sutable for drifting becuase it locks on accel and decel, were a 1.5 lsd would be best for grip/time attack driving, you sould also consider buying a decent brake upgrade, like the setup from a z32.good grippy tires are a plus but rims should be last on your list. i.m.h.o

a 2-way differential
spare tires and spare wheels

Was that a sarcastic "RIght" or a "correct right"?

2way diff, I suggest kaaz. And drive. More mods wont help you till you get more track time. The stock "lsd" shouldnt even be considered a limited slip. You will get way more grip out of a mechanical

I do have the DVD. I bought it 2 years ago. I have been relearning the way I take corners as well as Heel-toe down shifts. I have been practicing in open parking lots(after it rains). I have tried all if not most of the techniques explained in the video. THe 360's are the most fun. THe one parking lot I went to had busses lined up on one side and a wall on the other side( about 60 ft away from eac other) there was a grate in the middle. I headed towards it with modeate speed, pulled the e-brake and steered around the drain grate. I stepped on the gas before I gained grip. I then kept the 360 around the grate by pumping the gas and steering/ counter steering. My point is... I am not depending on parts to help me, although suspension was a plus. I was debating what to get next because I was thinking about a 5 lug conversion( rims, tires, rotors)because it would be easer to find spare wheel/tires. From what I heard though A 2-way LSD is the best invstment right now. Is this correct? brakes are pretty important! I heard a 1.5 LSD is good for grip because itonly locks during acceleration, much like the faCTORY LSD. Would the adjustable Nismo LS be a good choice?

parts do not make you a better driver, seat time, practice, practice, practice.

track time with wheels and tires
I guess parking lots dont count....ha ha. I do not know if i fullly want to commit to a 2-way because I slip on back roads right now(newly paved and curvey) would wider tires suchas a 17X9 with a two way be good?
Don't waste your time on a brake upgrade
only suckers brake when drifting
get coilovers, diff, wheels, clutch and then whatever you want for engine, i recommend at least 2000 hp

ha ha I agree. speed into the corner" real men attack those corners"- Keiichi Tsuchiya. I also agree that at least two thousand horsepower is a good place to start.( you probably dont find that as funny as I did)

If you have an SE then you are in the game already, solid Viscous no need to really upgrade @ this time, if not then upgrade, a nice 2 way will do you fine, as long as you work the LSD not let it work you! keep in mind the amount of agression you will receive when dealing with the 2 way, if you upgrade this, then upgrade the ride height, this will allow your car to work with the LSD w/ a bit more attitude. but then multi-links come into play, keep that in mind, adjustments all around, very sophisticated and costly if you are fresh in the league. get repair & replacement contacts, #1 always keep fluids for freshness. .. .
study lines, and throttle control. seating must be setup to the likeness of your leg rebound to the clutch in the car, make sure you are comfortable kicking and holding the clutch.

It would be safe to assume that many buy all of the ebay suspension parts they can get... ;)
Seriously, if you can, do coilovers...springs would be for aesthetics in your case.

Blahblahblah. Best mods you can do for drifting cheap is weld diff, bucket seat, steering wheel, alignment and tires.
you REALLY want some drift setup?
fuck steering wheels they are nice but wont help you drift
get a welded diff
upgrade the rears to sloted rotors and ceramic pads
get adjustable links so you can get a proper alignment
get fully adjustable coilovers so you can slam the shit out of the car
one last thing that is the best thing you CAN do ever...
its seat time..
The more you are at events the more REAL practice you get.
So get a comfortable seat so you wont get tired of spending 4 hours in it drifting.
ohh and anti-sway bars

just go out there with whatver setup you have an practice...nothing can make u drift better if you dont have the practice and skill...
Its all really about driving..
After you get better, then gte parts you need to get even better
PRACTICE and get some TRACK time

How much of a difference do anti-swaybars make? Aere there any other +'s to strut bars other than connecting the top of the suspension?
strut bars make a difference but not as big of a difference as anti-sway bars do.

if your planning on drifting, just get a welded diff.
one of the members on zilvia that drives s ls1 powered FD sells really reliable welded diffs. ONLY 100$. many members rock them and sware by them.
also i would get aluminum subframe spacers for less subframe movement while drifting. there only like 75$
