Well...last Friday after work me and a friend were bored, so we decided to work on the car...here's what became of it:

Overall, a relatively easy swap. Toughest part was probably breaking loose the bolts holding the calipers on, since we don't have any air tools or an impact. Just some liquid wrench and a whole lotta elbow grease.

My thoughts on the setup...Un-f*****g-believable over stock brakes...Well worth it for any 240SX.

My setup consisted of brand new aluminum Z TT calipers, Porterfield R4S pads, OEM Z TT rotors, and a new hardware kit from Courtesy Nissan. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Excellent!!! Great pictures and comparisons! This is one upgrade I plan on doing in the somewhat near future, how much did it set you back? Was everything from Courtesy Nissan?

Well, here's the breakdown of what I paid for everything (All prices include shipping):

Brand new aluminum calipers: $275.00 (I lucked out on eBay with these)
Stock Rotors: $50.00 (Bought Used)
Porterfield R4S: $90.00 (Stranoparts)
SS Conversion Lines: $87.00 (Srswap.com)
Hardware kit (Shim kit, pins, clips, springs): right around $50.00 (Courtesy Nissan)

Total cost: $552.00

Not a bad deal at all...I did luck out on the calipers however. Also, for anyone looking for calipers, there is a scrap yard I know of that I can get the aluminum calipers from for 80.00 a piece, and they have 4 complete sets of calipers, all aluminum. They are scrap yard calipers, so they would definitely need seal rebuild kits, which I think cost around 30 bucks or so. If anyone is interested, just let me know, and I can pick some up.

You should make a write-up to go along with the pictures so we can add it to our installs section

Thanks for the breakdown. That's a good idea, 240racr, I wouldn't have thought about that, thanks!

Also, I meant to bring this up, you only did the front brakes I'm sure and that's where most of your stopping power comes from, but is there any way to do the rear brakes or is it too much of a hassle? I know that most people leave the rears untouched, except for maybe new rotors. Such a n00bish question, but it's never been answered for me...

From what I understand, the rear Z brakes use the inside hub of the rotor as a e-brake. 240 don't. So, I guess it depends on how much trouble you want to go through.

Also!...everyone, if you do a front brake conversion...you do not NEED to get conversion brake lines. The lines from a Z will mate with the hard line on the 240 (at least on the S14)

The rears do take some work, and I didn't want to bother with them. If you are interested in doing the rears, contact Alex Samardzich via his website.
