base rsx vs base 240

I have a base 97 240sx automatic and i was just curious if i even have a chance against the base rsx 5sp manual.

AUTOMATIC ? thats weak its a rear weel drive car so your losein more power than a front wheel drive to the wheels. coupled with you automatic, you have no frist gear and your gear ratios are allreally long and weak. even thohg you have more torque than the rsx the is no way you could over come the difference in the gear ratios. you are probably putting down close to 120 hp at the fly wheel. the ka24 is an outdated motor that came from the nissan hardbody. i would sell your car unless your have like 9 or 10 G's for an engine swap , cuz its all show.oh ya and just a question why would you have you name be sr20det if you have an ka24 automatic? that kinda sad dude.

I agree that a 97' 240 AUTO will get beat by a base RSX.. &nbsp;But saying that the car has 120 FLYWHEEL horsepower is LUDICROUS. &nbsp;I know a couple people on this board that are putting down over 140 to the Wheels.. &nbsp;the car is rated at 155 to the flywheel. &nbsp;Also it's not 9-10K to do a swap in our cars.. &nbsp;Its more like about 4-5k for an SR, and about 3-5 to turbo that KA. &nbsp;Also the motor DID NOT come from a Hardbody truck. &nbsp;The KA24DE was never in ANY truck. &nbsp;Besides the KA started out in an Altima I believe. &nbsp;

i didnt read the first post all that well...but assuming by base you mean stock..and im talking type s because if you dont get a type s your dumb.. i think a non type S is like... 160hp? typeS = 200hp? KA24DE= 155 similar weight... methinking RSX would win even if both were 5sp or both were autos... but if the RSX is 5spd and the 240 is AT you might as well just hand him the money and not waste your gas on racing...

He means base as in the trim = non type s. I do believe it is 160 bhp for the base RSX, but the weight is close. The RSX is only another 100 lbs over the old GSR, and that was only like what 2600-2700?? Im pretty sure you've already lost the race, so its not really worth it unless he sucks at driving, and I do mean SUCK!!

hey SilviaSR20DET- &nbsp;have you or the RXS done any mods at all? &nbsp;I know you said base, but I have a base 240, but I'm modded. &nbsp;Honestly, I think an auto could, and can beat a manual, if they're evenly matched up. &nbsp;and this is a close enough call, you just might win...seriously. &nbsp;for amatuers, (not disrespecting, just saying non professionals), an auto could very well shift better(less error) and faster then a human could. &nbsp;

the base rsx is 160hp/140 lb-ft, 2694 weight
the base 240 is 155hp/156 lb-ft, 2800 weight.

by the #'s, he should beat you. &nbsp;but unless he shifts well, you do have a chance.

try it anyways, have fun, that's what I always believe. &nbsp;Do you really care if you lose? &nbsp;oh, and stay safe. &nbsp;I'm gonna assume this is on an actual dragstrip.

not to mention; the 240sx slushbox has been noted by many to be really inefficient even compared to other auto trannies.

i say stock rsx by a car length at least.

You're very right about honda's transmissions, you would think with all the sports car knowledge nissan has, they would do something about the damn trannies!! I guess the 5spd for our cars (and silvias and 180's since its the same tranmission diff bell housing) they're not terrible, but my 92 prelude with less hp and less torque seems faster than my 90 fastback!! Sorta jives my turkey &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hmmm.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hmmm:'> I still have to agree with the RSX winning, unless something bad happens to the driver or car during or right before the race.

damn man u jus got a whole lot of verbal ass whooping. Maybe u should learn more bout our cars. Cuz sykikchimp is right. But it does take at least 7gs to get all the stuff u need to have to at a good hp. But jus to run on stock psi its around 4-5k dependin on the year and what kind of motor so it be a s13 or s14. And also if it has the I/C pieces which is sometimes is missin. So i say STFU TOO cuz u jus made ur self look like an total ass infront of alot of knowledgeable ppl.
