u need:
- a spring compressor (go rent one for any auto shop)
- a 17mm wrench/socket (two of them makes life easier)
- a 14mm wrench/socket
- a crescent wrench
- lots of elbow grease <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Let me stress the importance of a spring compressor.
Very important!!
Also if you haven't done something like this before invest 100 bucks in a Factory service manual. It'll show you diagrams of the whole shock and strut assemblies. Good stuff.

If you wanna have a little fun try taking the thing apart without a spring compressor. hold the upper mount with a pair of pliers or something and point the bottom of the strut away from people(very important) then unscrew the bolt on top and watch the strut fly away............Yeah, I'm dum, so who cares....had to find something to keep myself from dying of boredome over here in Jacksonville, NC.
Umm on my 95 I did all this work with the spring thing... and it ended up useless at least on the back.. I did my back end with no spring thing. Have not done front yet. but damn they are shot.

Rears are under no tension. Fronts are.
