Welded diffs are stronger than a LSD the Problem is unless the car is gonna be track used only u will be replacing tires all the time due to accidental spinning and uneven tire wear. Plus cornering is greatly decreased due to Rear tires breaking to an instantainious spin at certain speeds pluss the ride of the car is HORIBLE its like driving a Gocart.I sugest gettin a VLSD.

if you get vlsd you will waste your money, well you could always just buy mine.If you are worried about uneven tire wear, then you shouldn't be drifting. weld that shiz, fast cheap, no maintaining it.Oh and don't let people try and convince you that a welded diff will break and send you off into a wall, i know i few people who daily on a welded and do just fine. I knew the search noob was coming sooner or later.:keke:

I have had welded and kazz 2way diffs and I say weld it!!!! The kazz 2 way is more streetable but for the cost, a welded diff kicks ass...just make sure the welds are strong G/L

Weld = cheaper, little/no maintenance.
sorry why are you pro ?
oh, I'm sorry you missed the point of me being annoyed by YET another welded diff thread. Yeah more and more pro's are using welded diffs, and yeah all the japanese drifters LOVE welded diffs even though they rock two ways in their drift machine. I have been rocking a welded diff in my s14 for two years and I dont think I would ever not rock a welded diff unless the factory diff never came open. I'm sorry I thought you would of noticed by now the reason why you have 2 reds already with 1 stupid thread.

weld it and save up for a LSD, if you end up liking the welded diff as many people do buy something else with that extra cash. Its all personal preference though.

is the welded diff only good for drifting?
is the welded diff only good for drifting?
Wow a real question about welded diff that has not been answered before!
I have read a lot of grassroots mags and there is a lot of positive talk about the welded diff in use in a time attack race or actual circuit race. The biggest positive about having a welded diff in a grip races is that you can late brake extremely late. And in drag racing it insures that even one wheel slips more than the other due to surface conditions that it would not cause an excessive loss of traction.

Just get a welded. I run a welded, its cheap. I've never had any problems with mine, the only time its annoying is tight slow cornering (ie parking lots), it chirps alot then.

Section 1: What is your 240SX used for?
A) Show car (Looks pretty, but is only turned on for parking and revving)
B) Race Car (You guys are too broke to build these, dont check this)
C) Daily Driven Piece of SHIT
D) All of the above
Poll Results:
A) 20% - Show Car
B) 5% - Race Car
C) 50% - Daily Driven POS
D) 25% - All of the Above
New to Zilvia? Allow me to help.
Most of the forum members here are nut-swinging homos that act hard because they think its the "zilvia" way. Sorry, new schoolers cannot be hardcore. The only people ON zilvia who are badassed, are the old-schoolers who've been apart of the 240SX community since it started. The rest of you, are all newbie bandwagon bastards (BWB's).
Now, lets look at the facts. People own the 240SX because its cheap. People rock welded diff's because they are cheap. People think its cool and accepted within the community because its cheap. A VLSD can be picked up for next to near nothing, and is great for a street car, but the majority here think welded diff's are hardcore - and they are even cheaper - so they promote that. Truth is, if your car is driven on public roads, rocking a welded diff is stupid.
So, you can sit here and listen to fanboys with showcars that have tons of modifications, many of which dont even work. Or, you can listen to the 18 year olds who daily drive their pieced together project "race cars." Or, you can listen to the biggest idiot - the person who claims his car is a street/show/race car - but is so broke, he cant even afford a second car.
In short, start with a VLSD - if you need more, get a mechanical LSD.
You and your friends are dead - game over.
