Ok guys here is my problem. have searched up and down back and forth, tested the alternator, replaces the alternator, checked for grounds, got new battery, everything and still the car does not charge the battery when it is running. I have not idea what else to do. i even did the stuff Turbo mag was suggesting in their latest issue about the charging system and all. I'm hoping someone could help me.
thanks

why do u think it's not charging? What is the voltage at the battery while the alternator while the car is idling? What about at 2K RPM?
There could be an issue w/ a couple of things. It could be that the field coils aren't getting the power they need to enhance the magnetic field in the alternaotr. If this is an issue check power to the field coils, make sure it's plugged in, and also check continuity of the field coils.
Also check the wire going from the alternator to the battery and see if there's voltage drop.

Hey AJ, Jonathan here... I've been thinking about your problem with the battery aswell. I was thinking perhaps you should try grounding out the engine and stuff better. Perhaps that could be your problem. Stock grounds suck.
I take it you haven't driven your car huh?? Have you seen the pictures I posted of your car after I painted it?

Your car was one of the most memorable of 2006 for me. A beautiful car with a beautiful color. Here are some pictures of the prepwork to your car...

Shayrgob240, well i thought it was the alternator, that was bad but it is not the case since i replaced it and still the same problem. I even had Kragen check it they said it was good.
Drfwerks, what is a sense line? could be since i dont know what it is.
Jonathan, Thanks for the pics bro, i'll try to stop by this week to get the pieces from you. Also i am going to install these HKS grounding kit today hopefull it works.

the sense line senses low voltage in the system and lets the regulator start charging,
the dash battery light is part of the circuit, alot of swaps have this problem

yeah..my rb swap had that issue. I replaced the alty. 2 times till I found out that wasn't it. sold the car without ever really figuring out what the issue was.

Well here is the update, I went through the s14 and s15 FSMs and decided to take the harness apart to make sure all the wires were going to the right place. here is what i found. the four wires from the tranny and the 2 small wires from the plug in the alternator are all coming together to a light blue plug that is supposed to be connected to the fuse box int he engine bay. HOWEVER that plug does not have a home to go to. i emailed yuri at wiringspecialties and hope he can tell me what to do, since he did the harness for me.

yes! the wiring from the alternator is for the field coils. These coils increase the strength of the mangnetic field in the alternator and allow the charging voltage and amperage to increase dramatically. This is def. the cause of the prob. good luck!

Fixed it finally , the B wire from the alternator finally found a home and the alternator now supplies the car with power. that is the good news that bad news, the front wheels have locked up now and wont move either wheel bearings or both of the calipers :(

what? so the b+ wasn't hooked up to the battery?

no cuz it looked like a ground wire so i had it grounded to the block. so by opening the whole lower harness and following each line i found out that was the B wire by reading the FSM. and with yuri's help from wiring specialties found out where it goes on a 95.

Could you possibly share with the class where it goes? I am having the same problem on a swap I just did.
Thanks!

I have everything explained in the pictures :) Hopefull they are helpfull. and ones i figure out how the the speed sensore and the SGI5 works then i'll try to do a topic on s15 install.
the B wire looks like a ground wire which throw lots of ppl off.

I had the exact same problem a month ago on my S14 w/S14 SR, that same harness was not connected and eventually figured it out with some help from Yury as well. I went thru 2 alt rebuilds before I fixed it.
