hey guys i got a 92 base model coupe. i want to do power door locks. does anyone know if the universal ones are good or should i try and find stock ones? im trying to wire up an alarm so power door locks would be more convenient. if i were to get the power locks do i have to run a wiring harness from the engine bay or can i just plug it to the alarm?

Your door lock wiring won't run through your engine compartment, except for the power from the battery. Your alarm will more or less plug into your door locks.

try autoloc they have ads in modified mag and others they have universal kits and i think you can use them with your alarm and what not http://www.thehoffmangroup.com/Autoloc/Products/Products_CL.lasso

i have universal door locks that i put in about 2 years ago. They work great but when you install them be sure to locktite the screws on the clamp or tack weld the clamp in place or they will keep backing out over time and the door lock won't work and you will have to go in and reclamp it.

I detailed the manual to power swap parts needed not long ago on here, but sadly no one knows how to find it.
The OE actuators are a cleaner fit IMO, they don't screw in just anywhere and use a flimsy rod to lock the doors like aftermarket actuators, but you can be creative and use an OE rod and go right into the latch. As far as wiring, either is a simple reverse polarity motor, a DPDT switch and a pair of relays is all you need if you're not going OE.

Yes these are often a pain i have found out....so if you can get a hand on the oe parts you would be better off.
