what would be the difference between the 1/4 mile time for an auto, and the 1/4 mile for a manual.. considering they are both very good drivers, and considering they both launch at the same time, the automatic driver is power breaking.. and the manual driver had a good (not perfect, but very good) launch?

an automatic has longer gears (4speed)
while a manual has 5 gears
plus the automatic is very consistent. just floor it

EGAD! Why would he be power braking?
Let us just alter you your plan a bit and say the auto has a 3000rpm stall converter.
I can't give any exact numbers without knowing more about the cars but if the exact same driver ran both cars under the same conditions with the same mods the auto will run faster just about every time.

im no expert but wouldnt he be power braking as to bring his rpms up without having the car move....i am pretty sure that this method works....you power brake the car right up until it starts to make the wheels spin this way you you have max torque......this might not be right but it's what i was told.....so dont flame me
the stall converter would work fine as well too...just making a point
