I was reaching for something in the passenger seat, and my clutch foot started to lift, causing me to roll forward, and scratch this girls paint off her bumper. I want to settle this w/out insurance, so I need to know how much i should offer her! I just want to give her cash, and send her on her way, but I am a nice guy so ripping her off isn't an option!

Thanks alot for your input,
-zac

i really cant tell you how much it would cost but something like this happened to me, i dented someones door, not a big dent either, and we decided to not go through insurance but it turned out that this guy said his door was gonna cost 1000 bucks to fix (bullshit) but anyway there was no way i was gonna give him a thousand so i went through the insurance and they gave him the 1000 or so that he asked for....

o well just thought i would give you the heads up but your problem doesnt sound like mine so i guess doing without insurance would be good....sorry that i couldnt give you a price though

Dude, I had messed up a ford ranger's door at work, and it looked really minor. The damage to fix it was $700 but the employee discount got it down to $387 But i know now NEVER HIT A DOOR! They are way too expensive to fix.

thanks for the input,

p.s. do you still want that tranny swap or has someone else gotten it for you?

well..it depends on how fucked up the bumper is..it could cost u from 100-1000 bucks..if u know how to paint..do it urself..if they let...

door isnt as bad as a rear fender bender..some Neon backed up into my friends car..g2 integ..and bumped up the raer fender someawt bad..and the neon was juss fine..but it cost that neon girl 3gz to fix my friends bender!

FACT: object rolling around in car is #1 most distraction for driver...yep dats right folks..its not the all mighty Celly

id say the bumper from a civic with factory color paint would cost around 350-500 depending on whos painting it. if she went to a body shop and juss got an estimate on painting the bumper then it would prolly be in that range. keep in mind its cost of paint and labor... most body shops would charge 32 dollars an hour for paint labor. they hav to sand it down primer paint then clear coat. id say 350-500 would be right if it wuz just paint. and fixing molding or patching the bumper would cost extra.

i hit some mercury mountaineers rear bumper at around 5-10mph rolling towards the stop sign..he got the estimate and said that the bumper wuz "twisted" and they needed to replace it. i dont get it. i had a 99 corolla at the time and i had no marks on ma car. but his suv had a twisted bumper... shiet happens. i wanted to use ma own money at first...but the guy said the estimate came out to $890 to replace his rear alluminum bumper/wutever those bumpers are made of...so i juss had it go through insurance.

Someone rearended my GTI a few months back and f'ed up the bumper cover.

I bought a used bumper cover in the wrong color (black). Took it to a body shop, had them sand it down and repaint it in my color (metallic purple! ). The whole repair cost $300 altogether, and $100 of that was the used bumper cover... so $200 for just paint. It's good quality and I had no 'hookups'.

Shop around.
