So who's got a PS3 already?? and how do you like it??
I've been thinking about getting one by the end of this month when splinter cell comes out, but it doesnt look like there are that many good games out yet...

a friend of mine has one, and he's pretty pissed he didn't buy a 360. i can't say i blame him.. Resistance is a pretty amazing little game, but that's pretty much it.

not to say i don't want one. in a year or so, when there's new GTA and Gran Turismo to play, i'll probably buy one. but this definitely isn't a system worth picking up at launch.

I think the PS3 will pick up some more momentum as better games become available, and it's been out for awhile, and the price starts to drop a little.

I don't own a PS3. I've had both PS, and PS2 on day one and I'm not even thinking of buying a PS3 for another 6 months or longer. I hardly play my 360. My Wii is on countless times a week though.

But like I said I'll get one as soon as MGS4, GTA, GT, etc start coming out.

I like my PS3. I can surf the web, download demos, trailers, etc...and yeah resistance is the only good game out for right now along with a GTHD demo you can download which is teh sex.

It kind of sucks, I would feel like an ass if I was one of those people who waited in line or paid thousands for it. I got mine the day it came out, didnt wait didnt overpay and I don't regret it.

But as of now there is still only 1 good game out, the rest are ok, I like it for its blu ray player though, and I love the system more than the 360, just the games. By the end of this year though I think I will be happier with my PS3, but i have a 360 too so whatever. I would wait till some better games come out or the price drops.

True, the game selection, which accounts for the less than stellar reviews, isn't up to par yet, but as soon as video game makers offer games capable of maxamizing the system's potential (1080i/p) it's over--that being, then, it really only makes sense to pick a PS3 when there's more of a selection; though, I'm enjoying the blue ray discs for now.

The PS3 caters to a more advanced time--a time when flat screen HD tv's and intricate sound systems are commonplace--or for those who have the said components; those without, PS3 is not for you.

Mine only froze after leaving it on all night to DL GT4. Didn't really freeze though, just suddenly turned off.

I agree with most other people, when the rest of the software (being able to record TV and whatever else is supposed to come out) and more games start to come out then it will be better.

At least them lagging gives me time to save up for an HDTV... 5 year old 21 inch mini TV just doesn't cut it.

What's so hilarious to me is that when I first did my research about the next gen systems (before they were released) I was dead set on getting a PS3, maybe a 360 and definitely NOT a Wii.

Now with all of them out and I've had a chance to see what they are like my opinion is completely reversed...The Wii is actually the only one I will probably buy anytime soon if I even buy one of these systems. Then the 360 for Forza and all the other great games and finally the PS3 because the only game I really want is GT5...

The only reason I bought a PS2 was for GT3 and I don't regret buying it. With the recent flop of GT4, I don't really look forward to GT5. GT3 is far superior and I still play it regularly, while GT4 with it's obviously fake physics makes me bored in seconds. Forza also really took away a lot of gran turismos lead as a street car simulator...Forza 2 looks to be possibly the best simulator in this category when it comes out.

Tourist Trophy also kinda sucked (from the same makers of the Gran Turismo series). Hyped as the next and best motorcycle simulator, it is only really improves the genre with better graphics. Bike physics and overall control is less realistic than TT superbikes (Released in Uhh 2001 I think) or Superbikes 2001 (for PC only).

Anyway, sorry for the long post, but that is why I ultimately don't want a PS3...because the one game I want is probably going to suck. Mostly the only games I play are racing games, specifically street car sims.

I own a PS3. Lucked out and found one at a Best Buy hidden in the security room. Bought it about a week after initial release. $700 with game and tax. Resistance FOM is the only game I own. Ive played the rest of the games and they pretty much suck. The online play for Resistance is quite addicting if you dont limit yourself.

Oblivion, F.E.A.R, and Tom Clancy's Rainbox Six Vegas are coming out this month but I am a bit disappointed in the Sony's game lineup.

The Wii is fun if you have people coming over and want to play a sports game but it's too kiddy for me. Don't forget that when the Xbox 360 was launched, it's game selection sucked as well.

$600 is a lot of cash for a video game console...wait till there's a better game lineup and maybe a price drop.

Friend came over last night and plugged in his PS3 and we played Resistance... I actually considered buying a PS3 up until this.

Yeahhhh......... Basically it looked like a polished PS2 game. Wasn't much fun at all. Played through the first few levels, both decided we were wasting our time, booted up my 360 and chopped each other in half with chainsaws on Gears of War. My friend was red in the face mad that he purchased his PS3 after playing GoW for an hour.

I don't care what kind of power the PS3 has, it has NOTHING in game titles. Meanwhile the 360 is pumping out great games at an INCREDIBLE rate. Almost every game that gets released (aside from sports games and movie ripoffs) I've bought and enjoyed. I say buy a 360 , or get a Wii (though I played one for a while and was quickly bored once the initial fun of the "Wii experience" wore off. I think a Nintendo DS is more entertaining than a Wii at this point.)

Gears of War - Awesome single player, amazing co op, brutal multiplayer. Tons of stuff to do, crush skulls, chainsaws, grenades stuck to big ass monsters, bow and arrows that explode. Graphics and art direction that put Resistance to shame.
Dead Rising - Kill zombies. It never really gets old to me.
Fight Night - Best boxing game period. Yes it's on PS3 but if you go 360 get this.
Saints Row - Cheesy as hell, but a damn fun and entertaining GTA clone. Very well made and there's lots to do.
TDU - Crap ass physics but driving around Hawaii in a Ford GT is a blast.
Crackdown - Tons of pure-fun. Simply amazing. Co op is awesome.
GRAW - Rainbow Six on speed. Entertaining from start to finish.
R6:Vegas - GRAW on speed. Multiplayer. Do it.
99 Nights - Dynasty Warriors on a massive scale. It was an awesome rental.

In the pipe:

Blue Dragon - RPG from the maker of DBZ, getting great reviews in Japan.
GRAW2 - Played the demo, it's amazing. They somehow improved upon GRAW to make it 2x as awesome. Graphics are unbelievable.
Forza 2 - Graphically, it's no GT5. But Forza was no GT4 either, and I fucking hated GT4 and played Forza until my Xbox's laser wore out on it. Multiplayer, customization, damage, engine swaps, DRIVETRAIN swaps, multiplayer, great physics engine, downloadable content, auction house, car clubs, BMW's, and oh did I mention multiplayer?
Command and Conquer 3 - Played the demo on PC, very cool.

And don't even get me started on the XBL games.
Heavy Weapon, Lumines, Joust, Dig Dug.

Yes. I play video games.

As wierd as it is. The wii that I have has been the most fun. Friends come over who normally don't game and go "Oh that's one of those wii things.. can we play?". They love making their own mii's etc etc. Simple stuff like bowling and tennis are quick pick up games. I agree on the kiddyness but compared to the other systems. The wife will play against me on this one. She looked at a ps3 and went.. "Oh you mean you just push buttons on this one. Thats no fun" warioware and wiiplay have added to the quick pickupness. It's not a next gen console but definitly a winner for the older newly married types. The PS3 graphics are impressive but still think the games are definitly lacking.

Again, someone missing the point of the Wii all together. It's doesn't have next gen graphics, but the gameplay is so far next gen it makes PS3 and 360 look privative. I've had nearly every system since Atari 2600. At this point I'm over graphics. They can't save a game, or make a gave.

I think GOW sucks. I own and and have played it and played it and I just don't think it's that good. Yea it's by far the best looking game probably ever to grace your TV, but that's it IMO. It's just more of the same old game play we've had for years.

GTA4 is the first next gen game I'm really looking forward too. Well the first one to come out that I'm looking forward to. Since GT5 and MGS4 aren't coming til 08.

I got a ps3 in late january....no complaints yet on the system itself. Resistance is awesome but its starting to get old after you beat it on 3 difficulties haha. They just revamped the multiplayer games though....new chimera v chimera, human v human, etc.

im really waiting for Assassin's Creed. That game is going to be revolutionary. I guess they're releasing it on xbox360 now, but so far ive been a little more impressed by the ps3 than the xbox360. HD TV makes a huge difference on both.

I dont think now is the right time to jump on the ps3. there should be a price drop soon, and the current game library is kinda weak. even a wii looks more favorable at this point. I may consider it maybe a year later.

The 360 looks like its worth getting at this point. the game library for it is the strongest right now, and i don't forsee a price drop in the near future. being a fan of zombie movies and forza, to me the 360 is a must have! I may even grab a hd-dvd player to go with it (even though it would do me no good since i have pos 20yr old antique for a television).

I know some of those things are cool, but I just didn't think it added a whole lot to the gameplay. Plus, more then most FPS, it's sooooo linear. Sure there where choices, A or B, on which way you wanted to go, but it really didn't have an effect on the game. I'm not a huge FPS fan to begin with though. My favorite FPS shooter is more of a Action Adventure, and that's Metroid Prime. Now THAT is a different experience as far as FPS's go. It has a focus on exploring rather then old standby fast paced FPS feel. I dunno, I just like that formula a little better. Just my opinion.

Yeah but you can download it to cd and install..and its similar for PS3. FF12 looks like crap until you download the update. Internet is your friend..XBox embraces it..Sony learned from MS and is now attempting to do the same.

My understanding is that PS3 is actually almost a generation beyond 360. That's why Sony's plan is to have the system last 10 years vs the normal 4-6 year life cycle. However at this point, games are so difficult and expensive to produce for PS3, many developers are hardly even tapping into the PS3's power.

If you invest 700$ on the fact that it WILL be cool in a year, you're wasting your time and money IMHO. Why spend that money just to have it "gather dust" for 6 months? Hell in 6 month's it might be cheaper!

Console wars are gay. I owned PS2 AND Xbox, enjoyed different games on both. My only animosity towards the PS3 is Sony's stupid marketing strategy it uses EVERY time, fake footage, grossly exaggerated performance numbers, and no delivery on promises. I can't trust my money to them until 3rd part developers make it worth my while.

I have had my PS3 since day 6 (Nov 24th)... And I just bought my second game last week (Formula 1 racing, which is very good btw)...

I think it's a very good multimedia center and combined with a 40" 1080p TV, it sure brings out the most out of your Blu-ray movies and games... You can't really enjoy a PS3 until you have the hardware to support it... and it still doesn't have a lot of content, yet...

right now it seems like the ps3 is in the same boat as the xbox was against the ps2...the xbox had more power, but the ps2 had more games and more games that took advantage of the system so the graphics were better even if the system didn't have as much all out performance.

you do notice on games though that the ps2 lags where the xbox doesn't with the same game...kinda blows too since neither is really upgradeable like a computer...

For the specs on all 3 systems and Advantages/Disadvantages of both systems. I for one am a 360 supporter. I work at a electronics store and i honestly haven't seen any ps3 sold in weeks (we even have fliers saying we got plenty in stock). Sure maybe one or 2. And i've actually seen like 4 returned too. As for 360's they have been selling somewhat more like 2-3 a week. With none returned so far. As for the Wii. We are still sold out. But like some people say, Ps3 needs time. Even a few friends of mine that are die-hard ps fans since the original Psx are even having doubts too. Let see what the future has in store for these two next-gen consoles and the wii :bigok:

This has got to be the craziest console war to date. All 3 consoles are dropping big ass bombs but strangely the underdog is running shit?! I think ppl are still not sold on HD, it's not a strong selling point. Obviously none of the baller shit matters. Prob by Sept well have a good idea who's gonna take the lead..Sony will have big name titles out and Home (i think), 360 will have even more variety and big games, Wii novelty will ware off and we'll know for sure if it is a keeper.

PS3 seems like it will win cause of all the loyal fans but idk..from what I read games are just too expensive to make now..no one is making any money. That's why exclusives are hard to come by. 360 does not have a big loyal fan base but it will look very attractive w/ tons of good games and a lower price..so we shall see.

PS3 is somewhat okay. All other games are boring and I mostly play RESISTANCE online and own most of them kids in there! LoL..!

World Wide 360 is in the lead, but that's cause it had a year head start. Wii is quickly gaining on it and I expect it to pass 360 by the end of the year. I don't see Sony being able to catch up to either within the next 1 year or longer if Sony even can.

The Wii's novelty will ware off soon and people will start believing it in even more. Especially when Metroid Prime 3, and Mario Galaxy come out later this year.

Everyone's got big games coming out, but I've said it from the beginning and I'll say it again, Wii will be #1 this time around. People are ready for something other then shiny textures. That's the reason why my 360 sits idle so often.

The way I see it right now:

Wii-innovation
360=online behemoth
PS3=??? They have less and less exclusive titles. Scary for them right now.

I'm a 360 guy and so far the games that are out and the games that are coming SOON make me happy to own one. But PS3 is coming hard, and everyone is up on the hype..I worry for MS. From what I read there are not too many crazy new Wii games that take advantage of its technology. Lotsa ppl forecasting that unless they come out w/ something else new and innovating it will do a Gamecube.

I think you're reading more from skecptics (prolly on 360 boards) then actual annalists.

Wii has HUGE system selling games coming out all year long. Mostly Mario games, but they are all system sellers. And right now, they don't even NEED a system selling game. The virtual console is selling games at even higher rates then they expected. Nintendo is forecasting it's profits to be WAAAAAY over their first predictions.

I used to be a Nintendo (NES) guy, then a Sega (Genesis/Dreamcast) guy, then a Sony (PS, PS2) guy. Now I'm a , "I buy every system" type of guy. I don't own a PS3 yet, just because it doesn't have the games yet. GTAVI was the reason I was gonna go get one, but now it's coming out for 360 at the same time so I'll just get it on there I think. Once MGS4 and GT5 come out I think it will be time to get one.

Until then I have enough Wii and 360 games to keep me busy.

Now that I don't have a car to work on for the next couple months I can finish that thing.

I have to make a base for the seat (all the parts are made just need to assemble), then carpet that base. The front I'm going to put a piece of thin wood over the front of it and then marglass it and sand it all smooth and paint it. I considered Adding pop-ups too. Eventually this will go in my game room in my lower level, right in front of the 100" projector. GT5 and Forza 2 are gonna rock really hard.

i downloaded the demo for gt5 onto my ps3...absolutely amazing...i dont have a high def tv...but the graphics are sex...and it has a drift mode...pretty fun...im number eight in the country with the celica rally car lol

it's the gt5 "concept demo" though, so i dont know how much different the real game will be

Actually it's the GTHD concept demo. GTHD and GT5 were to be two separate games all together. GTHD is only a HD version of GT4 with some monir touchups here and there. The decided to scrap the GTHD idea and focus their efforts on GT5, thus releasing a demo version of GTHD for free for all to swoon over.

I don't beleive it does. I'll be picking up the F2 wheel for Forza and then getting the new $300 GT5 wheel once that comes out.

Microsoft doesn't support the G25 or the GT 4 FFB wheel. You'll need the Microsoft Wireless Racing Wheel, it's not 900 degrees, but it has rumble and force feedback, and was designed FOR Forza 2. I'm dissapointed, I would love to use the G25 with it, but I'll settle for the MS wheel. Seems decent.

GTHD, graphics are awesome... and that's about it. Luckily it's free.

Multiplayer, Damage, Customization, Tournaments, DLC, Awesome Physics IMHO, FUN. That's where Forza wins.

I can definitely understand why people dont like it, especially those into JUST gaming.

I actually bought mine knowing it would be a while before a lot of the awesome games would come out, my main reason for the purchase was the fact it was at the time the only blu-ray player on the market that did the audio decoding.

To give you an idea of the difference in sound performance. Imagine lining up a 500 whp Sr to a bone stock Ka, it would be a pretty sad comparison in a drag race.

That is essencially what you have with the difference in audio quality. To some this may not matter but to someone like me, ( I have more money into my theatre set up than I do into my car, A bodykited,v mount ka24 S14) it makes all the difference. The suttle neuances that you hear during a movie and how it places you into the film are second to none.

If you are a big movie and audio fan and have a good surround sound system ( audio set up under 1500 no need to apply ) you owe it to yourselfs to to check out a ps3 hooked up to a good surround sound system. I guarantee that if you have the funds you will buy a Ps3 within a week.

I have a HD tv and am just waiting for a reason to buy a PS3. I recently opened my PS2 and tried "cleaning" it and it now does not turn on. It wasn't reading discs. But now I'm leaning towards the Wii. Basically I'm a huge Mario fan and I like simple games, with that "old skool" feel. I'm all over the technological advances on a PS3, but the Wii has SO many advantages right now. Way cheaper price, cheaper games, funner games. I honestly was looking to start with the need for speed carbon and the new madden for now, but not much past that. Everyone suggests the Wii (maybe that's why Best Buy never has one in stock , but always has a $600 PS3 on hand). I also hear that the PS3 is not going down in price 'cause it costs $700 per unit to make.
So I'm waiting for a Wii right now. Lookin forward to the Mrio title in November.
