Ok well he just bought a 93 240 fastback auto for $600 and it was driving perfect for 2 days. He decided to get some new wires, plugs, oil and filter to do a tune up. So did the tune up and everything ran good except the next day. He woke up went out to start the car and nothing. No clicking nothing. He thought maybe the battery was dead so he switched batteries and the same happened. So he asked his neighbor to give him a jump and as soon as he hooked the battery cables up everything started to spark. Battery and plug wires. What is wrong with this car? Any help would be great. Thanks in advance

Did you hook up the battery cables to the wrong terminals, in other words, put the battery in backwards? Wouldn't solve the original no cranking problem, unless you took the battery out to do the maintenance (dont know why you'd do that).

Plus I don't know how you could put a battery in backwards and not see the error but I'm sure it's happened before.

Well I have to ask just to get it out of the way.

As far as everything strating to spark, you're saying the plug wires were sparking, from the dist end or the engine end? Or in between? Also the only reason I could think of for a battery to spark is to have the jumper cables connected backwards.....on either car. Or if you somehow directly jumpered the pos & neg terminals with a wrench or something.

Were you there to see this happen? do ANY of the power components work? Lights, dome light, ign on - light up the guages, can you hear the fuel pump pressurize?

He might have some car knowledge but does he have enough to know that it matters that the wires going from the dist to the motor have to be in the right order? Also that it matters which end of the wires go where? I would check his wire installation.

Nevermind. Ground on starter was loose.

Great.... thanks for the update. Good thing it was something minor.
