It's pretty good legit place, well the one I went to. There are cheaper decent places in LA, but they are not so legit.

Earls > Maaco.
My buddy went to maaco for his paint paid by insurance. He's got bubbles and minor orange peel on his trunk.

Do the prep work yourself and it will come out better. Alot of Earl Scheibs don't sand your car down. It's better to do it yourself then take it in.

before you go and paint it, is your clearcoat peeling?
if not, wet sand it then polish. it will make it shine like new. trust me.
had my car painted at one day a year ago, no matter how good of a prep job you do, they paint thin layers, so it will chip easily.

my clear on the top of the car is done..ima do the prep sanding and possible spray some primer..on the earl website with the pro2 package it says they shoot 2 coats i might step it up and have them spray 3 and a hefty dose of clear

They have different kinds of specials monthly, IIRC.

yea they have specials every month heres the link for this months http://www.earlscheib.com/coupon.php
Some even have their own specials, you just have to go and see. My friend got his civic painted midnight black for $315 (stage 2), we did all the prep work and it came out very nice.

earl, miracle, and maaco arent really as bad as ppl say they are...ive seen some pretty good work come out from those places...but then again, everybodys definition of "good" is different...and then you take into account the variables such as which package, what color, which shop because each shop has different results and youd be surprised at the night and day results among shops of the same name...so best bet is to just drop by in person, check out their work, and ask them questions out the wazoo to see if they know what theyre doing...

im sure with my own prep and everything ill be satisfied that i didnt spend 2-3k
and it looks better than whats on it..ima just do it and post some pics when i do it...after that i need to find a vegas shop to help me install an sr down the road :)
i use to get my civic paint at Earl Scheibs also and it coast me 400-500, but that was like 5-6 yrs ago it come out good. i mean you get what you paid for! the paint is kindna thin and you can spot and orange peel on the side. i agree with sw20>>s14 also about each shop has different results.

Only thing wrong so far is on the 240, the rear bumper started bubbling (been almost 3 yrs) but planning on getting it resprayed for free since they got a 6 yr warranty on the paint. Cost...$250 with coupon.

they did that for 250? that looks awesome. did they paint the door jams and around the hatch area as well?

Door jams extra...all they would paint is what they can spray after masking the glass and windows. We usually drop off the car with no headlights, markers and rear lights just to make sure they dont spray the damn things. If your in norcal, we usually go to the one in Vallejo, they do a decent enough job that theyre the only place i would recommend. If you wanna pay a bit more for better paint and prep work, Go to Miracle Paint in Sac for $1k

door jams are $50 a piece. quality isn't too great IMO.. i was gonna go and get one, but then they wanted to charge me for this n that.. wasn't going to be worth it. i went to the one in riverside btw.

Strip down the car yourself... otherwise they'll just mask everything off... It really depends on the people doing the work. I say go in and see some of their work and make the decision yourself then. have a talk with the painter and kick him a couple extra bucks to throw on an extra layer or two of clear so you can wetsand it nice and flat.
