Hey people...both my 240s have this noise constantly when im on the freeway and go over small bumps on the streets..its like the hatch is bouncing up and down. I tried to stablize the hatch a little but the noise is still there. started when i put my coilovers on either car...could it be my subframe bushings? btw its not my spare tire...any advice would be appreciated thanks

yeah i have the same problem as you. My car sounds like it's going to fall apart. Not 100% sure, but i think it is the subframe bushing. Mine is an '89 so it's old. If people can guide us in the right direction much appreciated.
i have the same noise in my car too. i have tein basic coilovers installed. most likely it's the coilovers making the noise. or it could be the upper mounts. it's a squeaking noise right?

tighten the latch the holds your hatch
it has two bolts one on each side lower
it evenly so it holds the hatch tightly
so it won't rattle and drive you insane.

my noise is like like thud/clunk...just imagine ur hatch bouncing and thats what it sounds like...i have tein mounts on the coilovers and tightened it till no tomorrow...so i doubt its the coils themselves, i do have a strut bar also if that could be it doubt it though...lowerin the latch is a good idea..ill try that...any other ideas?

It's the bump stops in your hatch. They're supposed to dampen vibration, but most likely they're rock hard by now. Get new ones and realign the hatch so it doesn't wiggle so much.

It's the bump stops and you will need to realign your lock. As said prior.

im pretty sure you get a popping noise when your subframe bushings are shot, not a loud rattling noise.

You need to make sure that the bumpstops put pressure UP on the hatch when it is closed, they hold it firm in place. If they are down too low then the hatch can move up because the latch is not held firmly.
