Hatchback Lock

When i got the car the hatch lock was a little buggy. Sometimes it would open easy, most of the time it wont even open like now. The key cranks but the hatch won't open. I already tried to figure out from inside but its a tuffy. I tried to pull everything that the key insertion thing connects to, but the lock doesnt release.

Any lock smiths or hatchback gurus can help me?

Bumping in near half an hr = fail...

Will that key work on anything else? Maybe it's a valet key. But there is a little lever that connects the lock to the hatch release mechanism. Check that.

sorry for the early bump, but its really hard working alone trying to change the taillights with a trunk not working

i checked the lever but wont budge for some reason. i'll try to unscrew the whole thing

Check the FSM for details of the hatchback lock mechanism. Shouldn't be that hard.

Could be anything from a corroded lock mechanism to a loose cable.
