I've got overdrive on my auto tranny and I am not sure if I should leave it on or off during daily driving.

I've never really dealt with auto tannys but I know you are suppose to leave the OD off in the streets and on in the highways.

But the 240sx seems different. The tranny seems jerky when I leave it off in the street and it seems better when I leave it on.

So what's recommended... leave it on or off?

Thanks.

Normally the OD only kicks on at high speed. It is like having an extra gear for highway driving. That said: My sister's 99? 200sx operates like yours. It shifts a lot stiffer when the overdrive is off. It is almost like having a shift kit in the thing. I only turn it on for highway driving anyway and when climbing a steep hill I turn it off because it is a gutless piece of crap and keeps shifting up and down between 3rd and OD.

Don't know if that helps you any.

i never bother with it &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> &nbsp;my brother told me to leave it in when i frist gotr the car so i leave it in all the time...the car runs well enough with it in...so i actually never drove with it off....hehe

remember, it's effectively for mileage at cruising speed.

it's more fun to drive with it off, and you actually see better city mileage w/ od off

because the shift points piss me off, occasionally i will use the selector to "shift" the auto, that is keep it locked into a lower gear, and then allow it to shift up my bumping the lever...
