Please help fix my trunk!( '95 s14)

Here's the scoop, the key doesn't work in the slot because it's siezed, which is no biggie, but just this afternoon, the release lever beside the driver seat stopped working.  When I pull the lever, I can see that the latch still moves, so the cable is in one piece. It's hard to reach through the rear seats to work on the #### thing though. has anyone ever had this problem?? And how did you fix it?? It should be easy enough, but I don't want to torque on the latch and break it...guidance please!!

Its a bit of a crude way of doing it, but spray alot of WD-40 into the key hole, and work the key back and forth to loosen it up.

Yeah, that's what I plan on doing to the lock itself, but what about the release latch? I've tried reaching in and moving it around, but it doesn't seem to want to move to the left far enough to unlock the trunk?

you have to move the little switch up and down.  youll see what i mean when the trunk is open.  you probably just went over a big bump and dislodged it

yea and after you open it there is this little metal bar...  press it down and both will work... my cable stopped working so i had to open it with the key and in the latch hole there is a bar you can press down to make it work again

I've tried doing that with the latch, I can move it up and down about 1/4inch or so, how far should it move? And when it is fully pressed down, should it click firmly into place? Because when I try to pull it down, and then use the trunk release, it snaps back up, so am I not pulling it down far enough?

its like a half inch or something.  its definitely a click up and a click down.  just grease it and try again

My friend had this problem in his 95 Base. Luckily one of our friends is really tiny and crawled into the trunk and unlocked it. There's a lock or something on the inside that accidentally got triggered. Hope this helps.
