I am in the process of doing an oil change on a used s13 sr20 that i bought used and noticed some dents on the oil pan. Are these dents where the oil pickup is? Can someone please tell me if I am in good shape and can just leave it the way it is? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

3.8 quarts without changing the oil filter
4.3 quarts with a new oil filter is what ive been told
from experience i have always put in 4 quarts and 75% of the time i notice it is low a couple days later so i add about half a court and its fine til the next change. and i always change the oil filter.
you can pull the oil pan off its not hard. when u put it back on use the right silicone and dont overtighten the bolts cuz youll strip the aluminum block
if you wanna be safe, replace the oil pan and oil pickup, if you know the oil pick up is ok then just change the pan or hammer it out or whatever you want.

The oil pickup is towards the front of the pan I believe, it's been a while though. Looks like the dents are on the back, from sitting on the pan during shipping etc. I think you'll be alright, but why is this the first you've seen of it? Did you buy the car with the motor swapped in? It's a cinch to swap pans and pickups if the motor's out of the car >.<
Edit: Isn't S13 blacktop oil amount the same as a redtop? I thought it was just under 3 quarts?? My car didn't run for a while, so it's been a while since my last change... but I coulda sworn it was just under 3 quarts with the stock pan.

Pick up is the big square in the center. The big thing is that the pan floor is flat. Which it's not. That pan is jacked up. Time to get a new one.

all sr20det with stock pan runs 3.5 quarts of oil (new oil filter or not). If you want to check the oil pick up, then you should remove the oil pan?

You can always just check your oil pressure... it should answer your question.

If you have money, replace it...
But if you don't... take it off... take a look around... and bang it out if you need to...

how do you setup the oil pressure gauge??
plenty of ways...... tap into the oil galleys... get one of those sandwich adapter things that go between the filter and engine block... use ur existung sending unit.. if u have one..... honestly what kind of gauge are you going to use analog or mechanical?
pick up should be fine.. i wouldnt even replace ur oil pan... worse comes to worse.. take it off bang it out and paint it ... and put it back on with rtv.... fuck buying one of those high priced alluminum one... unless ur asking for more oil... im pretty sure u can find a better baffle if the engine doesnt have one... or u couls just make one...
