I'm looking at some wheels a little bit. I have a SPL bucket seat on bride FG rails in my S14. I'm about 5'10.5" and getting in/out of my car now is fine. Should I be able to get a Personal Neo Grinta 330mm wheel and just run it with a hub, or will it get in the way so much that I'll need the quick release? I would only get the QR if absolutely necessary, otherwise its not worth the expenditure to me.

I have a quick release because I like being able to take my wheel off and put a lock on the column to add a little more effort to thieves' attempts. It's also more convenient than running a spacer to bring the wheel closer, although it's certainly not cheaper if you want a quality quick release.

I usually just leave the wheel on unless I'm working under the dash or carrying a knife on my belt and don't want to put gouges in the wheel.

It really depends on your body ratio and how you like to get in a car. If you don't mind a little more wriggle, then it's not a problem. If you want it to be as straightforward as possible, you might get annoyed.

Find someone you know with a quick release and see if you like it. That's the only way you can truly be sure.

Lol @ knife in the belt, don't mess with this guy ^.

I really don't mind a little wiggling to get in, at least not enough to spend $100+ on a quick release to avoid it.

Thwarting thieves would be a definite advantage, but I think its more likely someone would just smash a window and grab my gauges and such.

I'll probably go ahead and just run without it. If I really need it, I can order one later.

Thanks dude.

get the wheel with a hub and try it out....if you dont like it then get yourself a quick release..... simple as that.

Well, I just hate to order stuff separately and pay more for shipping, but in this case it seems like I should be fine without it, so I'm not too concerned.

Yeah, typically that would work but

If you want a quick release, typically you should combo that with a SHORT hub

So, if he bought just the wheel + STANDARD hub, then changed his mind, he might need to buy hubs twice

Just sit in your car and extend your arms and measure what position would feel comfortable

Then based off that whoever you buy the stuff from can help you make your decision

I am same size as this guy.

I used to run a 360 with just regular hub - no worries
then i ran a 360 with regular hub and quick release - no worries.
Now I run a 330 with regular hub and quick release - no worries.

I run a 330 with normal hub and its perfectly fine, now when I put the quick release its abit too close and I actually have to pull the wheel off every time I try to get in/out the car.
with the QR it feels great at the track because the wheel is perfectly spaced with my arms bent at 90 degrees, for DD I usually pull it off and run just the hub. If I had to do it over again I would do just as Logan said and combo a short hub and QR
