Anyone know where to find a step-by-step walk through on installing one of these in my s13 It would really be helpful <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sigh.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

OMG. go to www.unstable-hybrids.com and send them some money...then MAYBE they will tell you how they put an RB20DET into an S13. do a LITTLE homework before you post questions like this next time.

MAYBE you should read what i posted Rb25det not rb20 and im not going to pay someone to tell me how I am sure there are places that would tell me for free. And i have already been to their site and they charge way too much. SO thanks for your input but it wasnt worth it

His post was basically a less than polite way of telling you that if you need a step by step walkthrough, then you lack the necessary skills to do it.

well, obviously you have done NO homework on the subject. If you had, you would know that the RB25 and RB20 drop in the same way because they are the based off the same block and therefore the same mounts. This swap has been done in Japan in many S13s...pick up Option magazine for pics. In the states, only one group has publicized success in this endeavor. And if you want them to put one in for you, they'll do it, but they enjoy the monopoly they have on the RB install market. They know how to make it work, and they're not going to just tell everyone. Sort of like a patent.
Now, was that answer a little better? I'll be sending a tuition bill to your email account, as I don't school people for free... <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sneaky.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':pissed:'> <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':0'>

you're right, it was less than polite. but i remember when i was a n00b two years ago. i searched the internet endlessly in search of answers before i went asking these kinds of questions. and that was before there were sweet search engines and archives on 240sx.org and freshalloy.com. with those tools (and Google) you can pretty much find out anything you want to know. so when someone comes on and asks, "how hard is it to put an SR in my S13?" we all get a little peeved. it's like "how farking lazy are you???"

I AM a malaysian street warrior!
Ok seriously it's my car, I just never told you. Can you keep it a secret?
Ok, that's not the truth either. I just went to google and typed in RB20DET and that was on the first page of matches. That's the lamest answer so try hard to believe one of the others.

wow, you found it on GOOGLE?! YOU ARE THE GOD OF WEB SEARCHING!!!
Seriously though, I'm sure any of you in the tech industry will agree when I say it's annoying as hell when people expect you to teach them shit for free. Learning takes time, if you are going to bother learning. Other people's time costs money.
I seriously doubt you will find anywhere a walkthrough on building that hybrid. You should probably start by finding motor mount locations and measurements so you can fabricate those and at least get the beast in there. From there you'll need to play with wiring diagrams, fuel maps. . . An RB swap into a 240sx is a very involved task. If you are trying to start into it by getting a step by step walkthrough, you may want to consider an easier swap like a CA or SR.

Google sucks...skip that. Zilvia's search doesn't work....skip that also. Your best bet is to goto http://www.freshalloy.com and search the archives by typing in "RB swap". I just searched a bit and it looks like you'll need custom engine mounts (I think I read 50mm forward before), custom cross member (someone said a R31 skyline's may work), custom drive shaft, custom tranny mounts, custom piping, and wire harness conversion. You'll may even need the ECU reprogrammed.......dunno. All that stuff I mentioned isn't meant to include specifics...but....it's meant to give you an idea if you think it would be worth the hassle.
Unstable Hybrids (or any other "swap shops") won't give away their "secrets", so don't bother asking....they even say that on their website.
As far as the noob's being lazy....I don't think thats completely it. Maybe he doesnt want to spend 2 years "searching the internet endlessly" to find information. Instead, he's asking his questions in the only places where they have a chance to be answered (in 240sx forums). Maybe he is new and doesn't realize there is a search function to access the archived threads....or maybe he does realize this and also realizes its broken on Zilvia.
I agree.....I hate it when noobies show up and start asking the same ol' questions...but...until the search function gets fixed here on Zilvia (and links to archived threads can be posted), we all have to bear with them.

Those installers have invested alot of time and money, just for testing if engines fit/work.
They are not going to give it away, ecspecially when that is their buisness!

Nick, I have almost finished installing my 96 RB25DET into my 89 240 and just post what questions you have and I will answer them. I am not afraid to help others with the info I learned at no charge. I want to see more people do this GREAT swap so the market for maintenance parts will be better. I haven't written a step by step guide, but it is not that difficult a swap and pretty straight forward if you have some decent mechanical knowledge and some tools.
Hardest part is the wiring.

I see... You revived a 10+ month old thread to tell someone who doesn't actively post something they probably don't care about anymore. And this COULDN'T have been accomplished via PM or email...
