Motor Tapping

When the motor is cold the motor seems to tap, but once it warms up it stops tapping. Why is this....please help, that noise is annoying.

could be valve's or timing chain guide's

Could be lifters - they're hydraulic, and air can get stuck inside them and make tapping noises if they need bleeding. Check out http://www.jgycustoms.com/infolinks.htm about halfway down the page for instructions on how to bleed them.

I was told it was the spark plugs that make that tap tap tap sound after.

Spark plugs? You can barely hear spark plugs sparking if theyre OUTSIDE the engine, much less in the chamber. You can hear the injectors opening and closing I guess, but the only thing loud enough to hear from the cabin is lifters. And no, KA single cams had different lifters I believe - I've never heard of anyone complaining about tapping from hydraulic lifters in a single cam.

i have like 6 out of the 8 that i can squeeze together by hand and 2 that feel like they are frozen shut. so basically i want them to feel like they are frozen? lol any help please?!?!?!

also i put one on my vice and compressed it togeher and then it was easy to squeeze again is that not the right thing to do then?

yup, you want them to be uncompressable by hand. keep bleeding the other 6.

so its unusual for singlecams to tap?? mine taps like crazy thruout the revs. even worst wen its cold. annoying as hell too :ugh:

I'm not saying it's unusual for sure, I guess I just don't spend much time around single cam guys :bow:

I dont think thats true. When ever i am low on oil i can hear the "clicking" and when i put more oil in it dissapears. It happens all the time. Ka24e still use hydraulic lifters and when your low on oil you can hear it.When I had my head rebuild i put in about 3 quarts of oil and started it up. You can hear the tickin noise until i put in oil. I have a video if people are interested.
