the car has done this since i bought it in jan. of this year. i just installed new plugs, cap, rotor, wires and a holly anniahlator digital ignition sytem. it only does when i mash the pedal to the floor and only in the uppper rpm range from say 4500 to 6000 rpm. it just stumbles for a second and the takes off from there. it does not do it from like 3/4 throttle acceleration even when i go into the same rpm range. its an automatic 1991 coupe. i know its not the tranny slipping in case someone was going to suggest that! any ideas???

replace your fuel filter, if that doesnt work than get a new pump also.

most 240's have a slight hesitation when mashed to the floor....it seems to accelerate faster about 5/6 of the way down from my experience

actually i have replaced the fuel filter also right after i got the car so its been on there for 6 months. i was thinking that the problem was fuel related. its good to know that im not the only one with this same problem. if anyone figures it out for sure please let me know! thanks for all the input!

you could try the injectors, but i dont necessarily think this is a problem i've drove many 240's(im in a large 240 car club here in central florida) and every one of them has done this exact same thing....so i think its kinda just how the car is made if its only a few seconds just dont mash down the pedal next time :-D

Make sure you gap the plugs to the KA specs, I believe is 0.045 or 0.044, or something on that end.
If it's a short stumble, it might be an ignition miss from your holly xxxx?? ignition amplifier. I would bypass that and run stock ignitor to see if the problem persist to narrow down the possibilities.

it doesnt do it off the line. it did it before i put the holly system on. it its only at about maybe 4500rpm or 5500rpm and it doesnt really cut out it just kinda "hiccups" ,like there is a hole in the fuel map?
